Itinerary

DAY LOCATION(S) HOTEL MEALS DESCRIPTION
Day 1
Fairbanks, AK United States
Pikes None

Arrive into Fairbanks on your own. A driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Ask the front desk for an “Aurora wake-up call” if you want to be notified when the Northern Lights are visible from your hotel.

Day 2
Fairbanks, AK United States
Pike's None

A driver will take you to the small plane airport this morning and fly to the Arctic Ocean on a scenic bush plane flight. The 9-passenger planes allow for aerial sightseeing opportunities along the way. Take a walk on the wild side and see polar bears in their natural habitat. Safely view and photograph polar bears from a boat in a rare and special wildlife encounter. Visit the Inupiat Eskimo village of Kaktovik, which is located along the coast of the Arctic Ocean on Barter Island. It is the only village located within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Enjoy a simple lunch before you take a small boat into the shallow arctic waters for viewing polar bears. After about 4 hours of bear viewing, you will return to Fairbanks by small plane. Upon arrival, a transfer is provided back to your hotel.

Day 3
Fairbanks, AK United States
Pike's None

The day is free to explore the city of Fairbanks. Local attractions include the Museum of the North, Pioneer Park, and the Santa Claus House in the nearby town of North Pole. In the evening, you will be picked up for a guided excursion offering the perfect Aurora Borealis viewing opportunity, as well as the chance to be personal dinner guests at an Alaska cabin. You will be transferred 30 - 45 minutes from your hotel to a prime Aurora viewing destination away from the city lights. At a warm cabin, you will be served a home cooked Alaskan meal and hear stories of the lifestyle and people of the North. Please note that the cabin is comfortable and warm yet also rustic and without indoor plumbing. There is an outhouse close by. The north-facing windows of the cabin also allow for optimal viewing even from indoors. Your driver will return you to your hotel around 3:00am.

Day 4
Fairbanks, AK United States
Pike's None

The day is at your leisure to sleep in or to explore Fairbanks. This evening, enjoy the Aurora Borealis, the Ice Museum and natural hot springs! You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred 1.5 hours to Chena Hot Springs. Take a guided tour of the Ice Museum, which is set up like an ice hotel with everything from the chairs to the chandeliers hand carved from ice. Afterwards, soak and relax in the outdoor hot springs. At around midnight, look for the Northern Lights to dance across the sky. Return to your hotel around 4am.

Day 5
Fairbanks, AK United States
Pike's None

Most of the day is at your leisure or to sleep in. Take a drive to the nearby town of North Pole and visit the Santa Claus House. Another local highlight is the Museum of the North, where you can see ice age animals, learn about the Aurora, and explore cultural artifacts. At 10pm, you will be picked up for a Northern Lights viewing tour. You will be transferred 30 - 45 minutes from your hotel to a prime Aurora viewing destination in a dark sky area. We recommend that you dress warmly for this tour, so that you may view the Northern Lights from outdoors. If you become cold, you can warm up in a comfortable building with north-facing windows that allow for viewing even from indoors. Your driver will return you to your hotel around 2:30am.

Day 6
