After breakfast, you will meet with your private driver guide for your tour of Dublin City and environs. Admissions are included to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Jameson Whiskey. Afterwards you will travel out of Dublin City and tour the coastal villages of Howth and Malahide. In the evening you will enjoy a dinner and Irish music show at The Merrys Ploughboy Pub.

About Jameson Irish Whiskey: The company was established in 1780 when John Jameson established the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin. Originally one of the six main Dublin Whiskeys, Jameson is now distilled in Cork, although vatting still takes place in Dublin.

After the tour, all visitors are rewarded with a Jameson signature drink and lucky volunteers are selected to participate in a tutored whiskey comparison and earn a much coveted personalised Whiskey Taster Certificate.

About St. Patrick’s Cathedral: St Patrick’s Cathedral is the largest church building in Ireland. It is also the National Cathedral of Ireland and belongs to the Church of Ireland, which is the largest Protestant denomination on the island of Ireland. St. Patrick’s is named after the Patron Saint of Ireland.

After your day’s touring, your private driver guide will return you to your hotel.

The Merrion Hotel Breakfast

Day 3: The Garden of Ireland

Today you will have an opportunity to get out of Dublin for the day with your private driver guide and take a tour to Glendalough National Park after a visit to Powerscourt House and Gardens in County Wicklow. This stunning 18th Century Stately home comprises extensive gardens, and tours of the house and gardens are self-guided.

History: In 1730 the 1st Viscount Powerscourt commissioned the architect Richard Castle to build Powerscourt House, a 68-room mansion which was completed in 1741. The north front was adapted to present a grand entrance in the Palladian manner, while the south and front faced the gardens and were initially only two storeys in height. An extra storey was added in 1787 and further major alterations were made in the late 19th century. The house contained some of the finest 18th century interiors in Ireland and was one of the country's most beautiful mansions.

Tragically in the early hours of 4th November 1974 a fire broke out on the top floor of Powerscourt House and by the morning the main part of the house was a roofless shell. The house was restored in 1996 and is open to the public. The house is now home to the best of Irish design in gifts, clothes, and furniture in the Avoca and Global Village Stores. Glndalough is a popular place for day-trippers from Dublin, and the name comes from the Irish, Gleann Dá Loch, which means Valley of Two Lakes. It is also the location of several ancient church buildings connected with St.Kevin, who established a monastery there in the 6th century. The ruins of this monastic site date from the “Dissolution of the Monasteries” under the reign of King Henry VII in 1536. There is plenty to see, including the ruins of the main church, and other smaller church ruins, as well as the 30 metre monastic round tour –the best preserved example in Ireland.

Irish Eyes upon us

We had really no reason to interact with our Ireland travel planners since we worked with a US agent, however Michael checked on us by phone at least three times during our trip - to make certain we had received our package of vouchers, and that there was nothing additional that we needed. Thanks for a wonderful trip! I highly recommend you add Kilarey sheep farm to your frequent must-see list! FABULOUS trip!

We had a wonderful experience with Moloney & Kelly on our recent trip to Ireland.  We hired them to provide a car and a driver for a day tour to the Irish countryside outside of Dublin.  Our day with our driver and guide, Sean Patrick O'Rourk could not have been better.  Sean is delightful and a wealth of information on just about any topic you can imagine.  We highly recommend Sean and Moloney & Kelly if you're headed to Ireland and want a special, educational and most enjoyable private tour experience.

We learned in Ireland of just how well respected Moloney & Kelly Travel is, especially Sandra. They found our group of 14 a great, self-directed tour - provided an awesome tour guide/driver and worked closely with us in resolving an unforeseen issue with one of the hotels. Happy to recommend the agency!

Went Off Without a Hitch

Moloney & Kelly hooked us up. We loved the hotels we stayed at - they picked up on exactly what we were looking for, and did it in one of the busiest times in the country (the week between St. Patrick's Day and Easter). Our tour guides were absolutely fantastic - kind, smart, well-informed, and flexible. The trip really did go off without a hitch. There was one day that we needed to switch plans. I was unsure on what the best move was, and Moloney & Kelly talked through the different options with me to help me make a decision. I took Moloney & Kelly's advice, and they changed the plans no problem. I highly recommend Moloney & Kelly - they have good taste and know what they're doing.

I was a little disappointed with this company. We were not told where to meet our driver at the train station so we spent 30 minutes figuring out where he was. The hotel accommodations were not what we expected....hotel was old and worn and all 3 rooms were not equal. Our driver was not given any guidance in where to take us one day. Overall, they were ok, but nothing special.

He was with us for a week and he has a wealth of knowledge about the country and its history, and while very professional, he was also a lot of fun.
