Eze-sur-mer, France
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa, Oetker Collection Breakfast

Today, you will enjoy a private full-day excursion to Monaco and Èze with a knowledgeable English-speaking driver.

Monaco is a tiny independent city-state on France’s Mediterranean coastline known for its upscale casinos, yacht-lined harbor and prestigious Grand Prix motor race, which runs through Monaco’s streets once a year. Monte-Carlo, its major district, is home to an elegant belle-époque casino complex and ornate Salle Garnier opera house.

Èze seems to blend into the rock face as it is strangely isolated on a rocky peak (429m) overlooking the sea. Its hilly old village huddles around a substantial medieval fortress, with rocks and houses of similar hues blending into one another.

Day 3
Vence , France
Grasse, France
Cannes, France
Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa, Oetker Collection Breakfast

Today, you will enjoy a private full-day excursion to Grasse & Cannes with a knowledgeable English-speaking driver.

As you stroll the promenade along La Croisette, it will soon become clear why Cannes is one of the most popular, and famous, seaside resort towns. Take some time to shop or sit at one of the many cafes.

Day 4
Tourette-sur-loup, France
Vence , France
Saint-paul-de-vence, France
Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa, Oetker Collection Breakfast

On today's full-day excursion, begin with a visit to Gourdon, one of the most stunning of the perched villages of Provence. If you would like to do a nice leisurely walk, the portion from Tourette sur Loup to St.-Paul-de-Vence would be ideal, taking just under 2-hours for the 7.5 km distance.

One of the most visited and famous hilltop villages of the French Riviera, Saint-Paul-de-Vence was once a frontier outpost. Its ramparts, dating back to the 16th century, offer fantastic views of the surrounding landscape, which has proven a favorite subject for artists throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, art galleries and studios dominate the village. Though Saint Paul has been heavily restored, its winding streets and medieval buildings are all authentic.

Day 5
Grimaud, France
Vence , France
St. Tropez, France
La Résidence de la Pinède Breakfast

Today, depart Vence and proceed to Saint Tropez via the scenic drive along the coast & L'Esterel National Park and Grimaud.

The protected L'Esterel National Park area covers an area of 14,000 hectares. The cliffs and mountains rise steeply from the coast, the deep red color of the rock comes from Rhyolite, an igneous rock formed in the Paleozoic era. There is a coastal road which follows the southern edge of l'Esterel National Park and could be considered to one of the most scenic coast roads in France. Small coves are formed as the cliffs reach the sea, with more jagged rocks emerging dramatically from the sea

A typical "village perché," Grimaud sits high above the Plain of Cogolin on a site that was once a settlement of the Ligurians. About 12 kilometers from Saint-Tropez, this little medieval village has a particularly charming townscape with many ancient stone buildings and cobblestone streets. Two must-see tourist sites include the ruins of the Château du Grimaud, an 11th-century fortress offering spectacular views of the countryside, and the Romanesque-style Eglise Saint-Michel, also built in the 11th century. The village also has a well-preserved Maison des Templiers (House of the Templars) with striking Gothic arcades. During the summer (mid-July to mid-August), the Château du Grimaud hosts "Les Grimaldines" music festival.

About 60 miles east of Marseilles, the little port of St. Tropez has become one of the best-known resorts in Europe, a crossroads where journalists, photographers, writers, artists, and celebrities all converge.

Set within a beautiful natural park, La Résidence de la Pinède is a place of tranquility overlooking the sea. The only hotel in St. Tropez with its own private beach, it is the ideal setting to enjoy both seaside pleasures and escapades at the heart of the mythical village. A charming palace with elegant and cozy rooms and suites; La Résidence de la Pinède is a haven of tranquility, shielded from the bustle of the village. The spirit of the hotel is inspired by the colors of the surrounding panoramic views, reflecting hues in bright and fresh tones.

A center of art and learning, the city reached its peak during the 15th century, during the reign of King René. Even today, Aix is regarded a center of art, home to multiple museums, including the Musée Grane of fine arts and archaeology, and the Musée des Tapisseries, displaying tapestries. One of the city’s most famous residents, the post-impressionist painter Paul Cézanne, was born in Aix in 1839. His studio, the Atelier Cézanne, has been kept much as it was when he died here in 1906. Aix has been called “the city of a thousand fountains”, due to the vast number of them present throughout the city

Les Baux de Provence's cultural heritage is exceptionally rich, with 22 architectural treasures classified as "Historic Monuments" (including the church, chateau, town-hall, hospital, chapels, houses, doorways...). This immense and superb stone fortress is without doubt one of the "must-sees" on the Provencal tourist trail!

Upon arriving into Les Baux, check-in to the Baumaniere les Baux de Provence.

Set amidst a backdrop that inspired Cézanne and Van Gogh, Baumanière les Baux de Provence flames gourmand passions with its two-Michelin-starred restaurant. Locally sourced, seasonal menus are complemented by one of France’s largest wine cellars, and culinary secrets The elegant family-run country inn, which dates back to the 17th century, features 54 eclectic rooms ranging from rustic to modern. Over twenty centuries have passed since the construction of the Pont du Gard, one of the best known civil engineering feats in the world. The structure is a symbol of the power of the Roman civilization. It has traversed the ages standing as a sort of eternal totem through successive wars, industrial revolutions or climatic problems without ever seeming to be affected.

Châteauneuf du Pape (the pope’s new castle) is a medieval village located in the Rhône wine region of southeastern France. The popes of Avignon built a summer château here in the 14th century to get away from the busy palace. Only the foundations remain standing today. Vineyards are located around here and neighboring villages producing more wine in this one area than in the entire Rhône region.

Avignon is a city in southeastern France located along the Rhône River in the Provence region. It was the seat of papal rule from 1309 to 1377. The immense Palais des Papes (Palace of Popes) is the world’s largest Gothic palace. It was built in less than 20 years starting in 1335 and was the symbol of the Church’s importance in the Western world in the 14th century. The historic center also includes the Cathedral of Doms and the Pont d’Avignon .

The Luberon is a beautiful region for visiting, by car, foot, bicycle or horse. The mountains and forests are beautiful. There are scores of lovely, ancient villages, many with castles, forts, ruins, towers, and other geographical and historical sites. This is a region for the dry-stone bories that link the present with the past. We used EC for our last trip to Paris and Switzerland. Our trip was fantastic and EC put together a very nice itinerary for us and the trip was carried out without a hitch. Our guide was very good - although he was more focused on the adults than the kids. My only feedback is that if there are kids on a guided tour, the guide should have some kid activities planned and make them more included. Other than that, everything was great.

The tour guides for European Connection are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are willing to stop whenever you want pictures and will answer any and all questions. We had tour guides for just the two of us and marveled at their ability to bypass lines and find little niches where we could stop and listen to their expertise without worrying that we were at the back of some line following a stick in the air! Highly recommended.
