Peace Lodge Breakfast

Arrive at San Jose International Airport. Private transfer from the airport to Peace Lodge. Approximately 1 hour.

Peace Lodge: Located on the grounds of La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park just one hour from the San José International Airport, the award winning Peace Lodge introduces its guests to a symphony of purely Costa Rican experiences celebrating the natural wonders of the rain forest and the splendid creatures that inhabit this magical environment. The ultra-upscale accommodations are uniquely themed to complement the inherent beauty of its rain and cloud forest setting and the detailed architecture exudes a natural elegance and sophistication with every room boasting a Jacuzzi tub and stone fireplace along with showers that transform into waterfalls with the turn of a knob. Picture perfect views of the La Paz River Valley and the towering Poás Volcano complete the experience.

Monarch Villa: This 1,200 square foot villa leaves nothing to be desired. First there are not one, not two, but three fireplaces to set the mood for this wonderland in the Cloud Forest. The master bedroom alone invokes thoughts of romance with its king size canopy bed set before a gas fireplace. The oversized master bathroom, complete with full Jacuzzi tub, fireplace (yes, fireplace) and waterfall shower will make you wonder why you aren't staying longer. The villa is complete with a luxurious living room with a two-story fireplace and a second floor loft with a queen size bed, a single bed and full bathroom. There is a kitchenette and dining area with refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave and room safe.

This evening, you will do the night time frog tour.

Frog Tour: The frog tour takes place in a free range Ranarium or frog exhibit where the frogs roam freely throughout our landscaped enclosure. Because you are not looking at them through glass it is the perfect environment for taking photos of the frogs. The educational signage and knowledgeable guides are able to impart extensive information about the frogs in Costa Rica.

Rico Tours is definitely the 'go-to' tour operator for travel to Costa Rica. We didn't realize this before we set out on our adventure with 3 kids ages 11, 9 & 6 for a month in CR, but while we were conversing with owners of hotels & other excursion operators they all said that Rico Tours has been in CR for a long time and has a great reputation. We would certainly recommend utilizing their expertise on future trips back to CR, or to anybody who is considering travel throughout the country. Pura Vida!

We worked with Rico Tours to plan a family trip to Belize. They are knowledgable about the area and helped coordinate everything with our hotel. We loved the travel itinerary package they sent to us before the trip. It was filled with a ton of insights about what to pack and what to expect when arriving in Belize. Our travel advisor (Courtney) and Rico Tours also helped get us quickly rebooked with local transport due to our outgoing flight delay. It was a HUGE headache that we didn't have to deal with - especially when internet service can be spotty in Belize. I'd highly recommend.

Poor Communicator when Issues Came Up

By: Andrew

Reviewed on: 01 Feb 2018

If we hadn't had the weather closure of one of our lodges during our trip I'd be fully satisfied with Rico Tours. The operators they scheduled were pros and good. However, due to large amounts of rain, one of our lodges closed kicking off a frustrating chain of events that wasted half a day in follow up questions that we shouldn't have had to ask. The communications were simply unacceptable and unprofessional. We would ask a question and get a 2 word answer with no details leaving us to guess what we needed to ask. The cancellation resulted in replacing a raft in/out wilderness lodge with miles of on site hiking for a luxury spa hotel that was NOT remotely in line with our preferences. We wanted on site hiking, off the beaten bath and instead got parked in overcrowded Manuel Antonio with no on site activities other than bars and pools. Because of the poor communications we cut our losses and took it, but missed the part of the trip we were most looking forward to.

High quality and personalized tours

Rico tours booked us extremely high quality tours, hotels, and transfers. I want to highlight the private, VIP touches that Rico booked for us during our time in Costa Rica. One of the curveballs we threw them was an extended family wedding in the middle of our vacation. This wedding was located nowhere near our desired destination resort properties. Rather than compromise on what we wanted to see and do in Costa Rica, Rico Tours booked us a private driver and guide for the day we needed to get from Point A to Point B. The resulting 7 hour drive was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a private drive through Guanacaste in a very nice, spotless SUV with a guide who seemed to know everything about Costa Rican nature, history, and culture. Having a private guide for the day was not something we would have booked for ourselves, but was such a great value given all that we learned and experienced with him. Highly recommend Rico Tours
