D’Urville Island is truly one of New Zealand’s best kept secrets. Discovered by French explorer Jules Dumont D’Urville, the island is located off the Northern coast of the South Island with an area of approximately 150 square km. It is the eighth-largest island of New Zealand, and has around 52 permanent residents. A perfect destination for exploring.
Departing out of Nelson we follow Tasman Bays eastern coast line before arriving on the western side of D’Urville Island for a spot of reef fishing. Once we have a catch we then hop across to the Eastern side of the island for the freshest fish you will ever eat, expertly prepared by your Pilot/Guide!
In the afternoon we track further east into Marlborough’s vast wine growing area. Landing at Hans Herzog Estate near the Wairau River we enjoy a tour of the winery and wine tastings. We have the option of dessert and coffee while on the ground. Our flight home to Nelson tracks via the Mt Richmond Forest Park with a mountain landing.
