Give paper marbling a try while in Florence with your children. Everyone will have a great time!
Paper marbling is the result of a “liquid” design similar to the one seen on smooth marble (hence the name), that has been transferred on an absorbing surface. Although this art originated in Japan or Persia, it has been very present in Florence since the Renaissance period.
Meet your private master bookmaker, and listen to his instructions carefully in order to make your own beautiful notebook. He knows what he's doing since he is now running a family business that has been going on since 1856 (6 generations!). The bookmaker will first demonstrate how paper marbling is done but soon enough, you will be making your own.
Once satisfied with the motifs of the marble paper, each person will make a little notebook, with leather spine and tie, using their own beautiful marble paper as a front and back cover.
The book is your to keep of course, and makes a perfect diary to write about your family holidays in Florence.
