Discover great Monet’s universe plus the enchanting atmosphere of the countryside near Paris.
At 50 miles from Paris, painter Claude Monet settled down in an abandoned domain of Giverny and transformed it into a masterpiece of gardening and decor. He lived in this property from 1883 to 1926 (43 years), and nowadays it is a real treasure to admire. Appreciate yourself Monet’s actual sources of inspiration, some examples being the water lily pond, the Japanese bridge, the amazing flower gardens and the house decorated by him. Indoors you will see a great collection of furniture, objects, some of his paintings and Japanese prints. The water lilies’ studio has been turned into a beautiful gift shop.
The restauration works were carried out thanks to the American Maecenas, allowing public to appreciate the enchanting house and garden. The “Foundation Claude Monet”, depending on the “Académie des Beaux Arts” keeps the life of this place by an everyday extraordinary work. This work includes the preservation of gardens as a vegetal patrimony.
