Multi-Day Tour

Vienna to Prague Biking (6 days)

Butterfield & Robinson

Dürnstein, Austria To Prague, Czech Republic

Day 1
Dürnstein, Austria
Hotel Richard Löwenherz Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Meet your bikes in the picturesque Waldviertal region for a ride, stopping to enjoy a falconry display and lunch (including wiener schnitzel, of course) at Rosenburg Castle. Later bike into the thousand-year old riverside towns of the Kamptal wine region.

Day 2
Dürnstein, Austria
Hotel Richard Löwenherz Breakfast, Dinner, Snack

Ride along the Danube’s banks to the town of Melk, home of the impressive, baroque Melk Monastery. For dinner tonight we’ll join the slow food movement in town, with (naturally) an expert-led wine tasting to precede the meal.

Day 3
Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
Ruze Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

This morning we drive to the Czech Republic, where we’ll pedal together into Cesky Krumlov — with its perfectly preserved houses huddling around a curve in the serene Vltava River, you would swear it’s the 14th century come to life!

Day 4
Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
Ruze Breakfast, Snack

Head out for a ride through the quiet landscapes of south Bohemia and spend the afternoon touring the outstanding Krumlov Castle. Explore the medieval streets on your own before dinner at a restaurant of your choice.

Day 5
Prague, Czech Republic
Hotel Hoffmeister Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Ride from the medieval fortress of Karlstein to the center of Prague, better known as the City of One Hundred Spires. Explore its rich past with a tour before celebrating the final night dinner in style.

Day 6
Prague, Czech Republic
None Breakfast

After breakfast together in the hotel, our B&R adventure ends. We highly recommend you stay on for at least another day in Prague to enjoy its sights.

Tour Features

  • Adventure
  • Food & Wine
  • Walking & Biking

A journey between the great capitals of Vienna and Prague is a trip back in time. In Austria, we ride the UNESCO-protected Wachau Valley, where wine has been cultivated for some 1,000 years. We follow the Danube through vineyards and villages, appreciate Baroque architecture and gape at medieval ruins. Crossing into the Czech Republic, in Bohemia we pedal through the breadbasket of the country, past castles and churches, lush forests and winding rivers. Cesky Krumlov is a fairytale town, its red roofs and spires soaring above the Vltava River. Arriving in renascent Prague by week’s end, we celebrate the adventure in style.

This is our 10th Butterfield Trip. It remains the best way to see a region. Nothing beats vigorous activity during the day and luxury at night. Bespoke trips for a large group are cost-effective and totally your own. We loved our guides Denis and Jerome this month in Loire, France. Amazing trip. With B&R you have access to private homes, private experiences, and people and places you would never meet otherwise.
