Mosel & Rhine River Biking (5 days)


Day 1
Mosel, Germany

Spend the morning pedaling easily up the Mosel Radweg to Piesport for a lunch filled with local specialties. This afternoon, ride to your first hotel where you'll have time to settle in before an informative aperitif and dinner at the hotel’s gastronomic Culinarium restaurant.

Day 2

Your ride begins in the sleepy town of Daun, surrounded by a gently rolling landscape of extinct (and still gurgling) volcanoes. After lunch in a surprise location, you’ll meet two local vintners, Laurence and Thomas, who'll shed some light on the rationale behind the labelling of local appellations.

Day 3
Beilstein, Germany
Villa Beilstein Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Today, meander up the Middle Mosel, stopping to witness Traben-Trarbach's castle ruins and other charms along the way! Tonight, the Lippman sisters will welcome you to Beilstein with a smile and a drink as you enjoy the view from their unbeatable terrace.

Day 4

After a well-deserved sleep-in and a hearty terrace breakfast, you’ll begin the ascent (by van or by bike) to the beautifully preserved Eltz Castle. This afternoon, wander the winding streets of slate-roofed homes, churches and medieval gates in Cochem.

Day 5
Koblenz, Germany
Kleiner Riesen Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

Push off on two wheels from Bingen, the threshold of the Middle Rhine, and admire the countless castles lining its banks. Pedal past narrow river banks crowded by vines and villages until you reach Koblenz. Tonight, explore the city and celebrate your memorable week together.

Prices, Reservations and Payment

*Our prices are in U.S. dollars.

We charge a single supplement to individual travellers who wish to ensure that they have private rooms throughout a trip.

To reserve your trip, we require a deposit of US$1,000 per person.

The balance of your payment is due 95 days prior to departure.

If reserving your trip within 95 days of departure, full payment is required.

To complete your reservation, you must complete, sign and return a Traveller Information Form and an Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Indemnity within 14 days of the receipt of your confirmation package, which will include these forms. These forms include additional terms and conditions of travel, including limitations of our obligations to you.

Prices for our ‘Bespoke’ trips are quoted as part of the trip design process, and are not final until final payment has been received.

Cancelling/Switching Trips

*If you must cancel your reservation, the fees for doing so are as follows:


270+  Full refund in cash of US$1,000 deposit

96-269  Refund of US$500, or US$1,000 trip credit

61-95  25% of trip price

31-60   50% of trip price

0-30   100% of trip price

Should you cancel your reservation more than 95 days in advance of the departure date, the entire US$1,000 per person deposit is transferrable as a future trip credit to be used by the same traveller towards a B&R trip departing within 24 months of the original trip cancellation date. This credit cannot be extended beyond 24 months but may be transferred to another trip only once.

Between 61-95 days prior to your original departure date, you may transfer to a different trip in the same calendar year upon payment of a fee of US$250 per person (this fee will be waived for Premier Cru & Grand Cru travellers). If you cancel this subsequent reservation, then the cancellation fees applicable shall be the higher of the cancellation fee on your original reservation or the cancellation fee on the trip to which you transferred.

Within 60 days of departure, the regular cancellation fees will apply.

The best way to see the world

This is our 10th Butterfield Trip. It remains the best way to see a region. Nothing beats vigorous activity during the day and luxury at night. Bespoke trips for a large group are cost-effective and totally your own. We loved our guides Denis and Jerome this month in Loire, France. Amazing trip. With B&R you have access to private homes, private experiences, and people and places you would never meet otherwise.
