One of Italy’s most beautiful and beloved regions, Tuscany has earned every accolade and exaltation bestowed upon it. While some come for the sun and to be seen, we’ve got better plans: sumptuous spreads laid out by close friends, behind-the-scenes tours of medieval towns, wine tastings with award-winning oenologists, and spectacular biking through picturesque hills. As much as we appreciate the comfort of its fine hotels, it’s the rustic charms that capture our imagination. Tuscany is magical. Believe the hype.

The best way to see the world

By: SueandRoger

Reviewed on: 07 Jul 2015

This is our 10th Butterfield Trip. It remains the best way to see a region. Nothing beats vigorous activity during the day and luxury at night. Bespoke trips for a large group are cost-effective and totally your own. We loved our guides Denis and Jerome this month in Loire, France. Amazing trip. With B&R you have access to private homes, private experiences, and people and places you would never meet otherwise.

Butterfield & Robinson Tuscany

My experience with B&R in Tuscany was first-rate. The guides we had were enthusiastic, knowledgeable , and professional. The accommodations were intimate and top notch. Meals at both restaurants and at the home of locals residents were outstanding. The cycling equipment was new and state of the art, including ebike and gps assist. My entire group had a wonderful time and we all agree that we will recommend Butterfield & Robinson and consider future trips with them.

B & R Rocks!!!

By: John Craddock

Reviewed on: 30 Jun 2019

We are already big B & R fans. We’ve cycled with them in the past on their Dordogne and their Burgundy trips. This trip to Bordeaux was a custom or bespoke trip. It was even more fun than their regular itineraries since it was completely tuned to our desires. Our guide, of course, made the trip such a blast. Stéphane was funny, athletic, savvy, and remarkably resourceful. He listened to us and made sure we were doing what we hoped to do. His gifts for us were totally unnecessary, but just exemplary of his joyfulness and desire to please the guests. He knew my wife likes to paint so he gave her a tablet of water color paper and paints and a brush so she could draw along the way. We opted to have Stéphane join us for all of our meals so communicating with the French-speaking waitstaff was never a problem, and we seemed to uncork more and more of the most amazing Bordeaux vintages at lunch and dinner each day.

Italy self guided walk

By: Soofa

Reviewed on: 31 Jul 2019

The accommodation and the experiences were fantastic but the self guided walking instructions were completely inadequate. We are experienced walkers who have walked with other companies around the world and they did not meet the standard for self guided walks. It would have been better and cheaper to go to the hotels and rely on them for the walking routes.

Boating and Biking with B&R

By: Sardinia and Corsica

Reviewed on: 09 Aug 2019

We had such a good time with each other, the Gulet boat was amazing, Ernesto and Enrique were so professional, kind, fun and able to handle anything! The dinners out in restaurants were amazing, those wonderful B&R picnics were amazing, the rides were glorious! Sardinia is a particularly charming place! I'd go again in a heartbeat!
