This adventure offers a spectacular helicopter flight combined with the opportunity to partake in the quintessential Alaskan experience—dog-sledding. Flying over the Juneau Ice Field to the dog camp is remarkable in its own right; soon after takeoff, glacier-carved mountains will unfold in front of your eyes. When you arrive, you will immediately meet not just your guides—all qualified Iditarod mushers—but also 80 eager Alaskan huskies. Over a kennel tour and time with your guides, you’ll learn about driving the dogs, and hear unique personal accounts of the Iditarod and other backcountry adventures. You will have ample photo opportunities and can dress up in original Iditarod Trail gear and finishing bibs. Finally, feel the excitement as the team is hooked up, and then hit the trail. Imagine yourself standing on the runners of a dog sled with a team of huskies loping across the ancient snowfields nestled among the peaks of the vast Juneau Icefield. You will learn very quickly the lure of the trail and the thrill of driving a dog team. This experience includes approximate transfer time of 25-minutes each direction from the cruise terminal and approximately 1.5-hours from lift off to landing back at the helicopter base.
