  • Walking & Biking

The heel of Italy’s boot retains the true magic of old Italy where families are celebrated and children are welcomed with open arms. Pedal through fields of sun-ripened tomatoes, artichokes and eggplants and delight in the musical Italian language as local mammas encourage the children to “mangia, mangia”, as they fill their bellies of the earthy flavors of the local cucina povera. We’ll explore the sun-baked coastline by bicycle and by boat, taking in the rocky coves and translucent water of the azure seas, wander through Roman ruins, examine Baroque architecture, and get our hands dirty making delicious local specialties. Join us for a fun-filled adventure your family won’t soon forget.

This is our 10th Butterfield Trip. It remains the best way to see a region. Nothing beats vigorous activity during the day and luxury at night. Bespoke trips for a large group are cost-effective and totally your own. We loved our guides Denis and Jerome this month in Loire, France. Amazing trip. With B&R you have access to private homes, private experiences, and people and places you would never meet otherwise.
