This tour takes you west of Vienna, to the beautiful part of the Danube Valley known as the Wachau. The full day’s journey includes a visit of the magnificent Benedictine Abbey of Melk, one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Austria.
In summer, a relaxing boat ride on the Danube takes you along an impressive romantic scenery – steep vineyards, apricot orchards and ruined castles.
Due to weather conditions, the boat trip only takes place between mid of April to October. The picturesque village of Dürnstein is definitely worth a visit as well; here King Richard the Lionheart of England was held prisoner until he was being rescued by his faithful minstrel Blondel.
At the end of this tour, you stop in the former merchants’ town of Krems, with plenty of interesting sights and spots.
