This is the perfect tour for opera lovers but also for the ones who have already been in Rome and prefer to visit something off the beaten track. The tour covers the main location of the worldwide known opera “Tosca” by Puccini that takes place right in the Eternal City. You will begin with the visit of the beautiful Church of Sant’Andrea della Valle, where Tosca sings to her lover Cavaradossi while he’s painting. The Church itself is a renowned example of baroque art with impressive paintings. Your tour will proceed with a nice stroll to Piazza Farnese where you will admire (from outside) the beautiful Palazzo Farnese, now the seat of French Embassy, designed by important architects such as Michelangelo. In the opera, the visit of Tosca in the office of Scarpia takes place inside the palace. Last but not least Castel Sant’Angelo, from where Tosca kills herself. This fortress was built in the 2nd century as mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian, then fortress and then converted in this castle by the Popes. In its dungeons, many enemies were tortured and killed. Nowadays it houses an interesting museum with a collection of pottery, paintings, sculptures and armoury.
