This morning, stop at Thein Gone Village to visit its monastery and a small school. Disembark the R/V Pandaw in Bagan—a World Heritage Site and one of the greatest architectural sites of Asia. Visit Sulamani, a Bamar-style temple that houses four seated Buddha images, and Bagan’s most impressive temples. For the next two nights, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the Amazing Bagan Resort.

Visit the golden stupa of Shwezigon Pagoda, explore Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple that is covered with fine frescoes, and stop by the Htilominlo Temple. Continue on to Ananda Temple, which houses four standing Buddhas, and the adjacent Thatbyinnyu. Following lunch, visit the temples of Dhammayangyi and Mingalazedi and stop at the Moe Moe lacquerware factory.

This morning, transfer to the airport for our flight to Heho. After lunch at a local restaurant, tour the Pindaya Caves, overlooking Inle Lake. You also have the opportunity to visit local homes where families produce Shan paper and parasols, then drive to Nyaung Shew on the edge of Inle Lake. Dinner and overnight at the Inle Princess Resort.

A full-day tour of this World Heritage Site showcases the capital of the first Lao Kingdom. Visit many of the city’s pagodas and temples, such as Vat Xieng Thong, Vat Visoun, and Vat Aham. After lunch you will visit Vat Mai, famed for its multi-tiered timber framed roofs and decorated columns.

A 25% per person deposit will secure your space on this expedition. All rates are per person, quoted in US dollars, and must be paid in US dollars. Rates and itineraries are subject to change.

Know Before You Go

This is a journey for experienced travelers only. Participants should be aware that the infrastructure is poorly developed, and occasional delays and amendments to the program can occur. Accommodations will range from five-star elegance to “bright, cheerful, and rustic” in the more remote areas. Some days will be long, with bus rides over bumpy roads and boat journeys that require sitting for long periods.

Flight Information

You will need to purchase airfare from your home city/Yangon and Luang Prabang/Bangkok/home city. Domestic air transportation within Myanmar and Laos is included in the price of this expedition.
