Meet your guide and driver at Rovinj port for a private tour of Istria’s much-loved charming towns – historic Pula and picturesque Rovinj.
Pula offers a diversity of attractions to culture lovers. The rich itinerary of its 3000-year old history, where every step through the town is a landmark, begins and ends with the Roman amphitheatre, popularly called the Arena. Built in the 1st century AD, at the same time as the magnificent Colosseum in Rome, it was once the site of gladiator fights. In the Middle Ages it was the site of knights tournaments and fairs and today it is the venue for summer performances. While strolling through Pula you will come across numerous monuments of Roman architecture such the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi from the 1st century B.C. and the Temple of Augustus. A unique experience will be moments of relaxation in the main town square, which retained its role as the meeting place since the Augustan Age.
Then you will continue with your guide and driver towards Rovinj, one of the most “photogenic” towns in the Mediterranean. Once a fishing town, it now offers a warm Mediterranean setting to its visitors. Experience the sights of this magical town while strolling with your guide up narrow streets to the magnificent church of St. Euphemia, the town’s most important monument. This baroque building made in Venetian style was dedicated to the saint and martyr whose sarcophagus was miraculously washed ashore somewhere around the year 800.
Afterwards you may enjoy some time at leisure before you return to your ship.
