This morning meet your guide at the hotel lobby for your exploration of Bled Lake and Castle.
With the dramatic backdrop of Julian Alps and medieval Bled castle, enjoy the fairytale settings of Bled. Take pleasure in the pletna boat ride and discover the dreamy islet that reigns in the middle of the lake. For centuries now, its charm has made it a symbol of the town of Bled, mentioned for the first time a thousand years ago. That is where the ancient Slavs worshipped Živa, goddess of love and fertility. Your guide will take you for a walk around the islet where you will visit the baroque Church of the Assumption. Ring its legendary bell and your wishes will come true!
Later today your guide and driver will take you the beautiful Bled Castle, which is the oldest castle in the country. Perched atop a steep cliff, the castle is the premier attraction of this area and today you will get a chance to explore its rich cultural legacy. In 1004, the German Emperor Henrik II gave the Bled estate to the Austrian Bishop Albuin of Brixen as a gift. The building was expanded and fortified since then and today there are several buildings that make up the castle complex, arranged around two courtyards, connected with a staircase. Today the castle is preserved as a museum, where you will be able to discover various exhibits depicting the history of the region.
Enjoy the spectacular view over the lake and the mountains before you guide and driver take you back to your hotel.
