Description

Meet your driver and guide for a private tour of Peljesac peninsula, just a short drive away from Dubrovnik. Known as one of the best wine-growing regions in Croatia and a seafood mecca, it offers a real feast for the taste buds.

Your first stop is the village of Ponikve, home to the small family-run winery of Frano Milos. A charismatic owner, passionate about his wines, makes some of the best organic wines in Croatia in a traditional way. The winery grows only Plavac Mali grapes, the most famous Croatian indigenous variety, related to Zinfandel. Today you will take a tour around these stunning vineyards, followed by wine tasting of their best local wines.

Your next destination is Mali Ston, a quaint bay sheltered by intact nature and famous for the original European delicacy – succulent oysters! Known as the aphrodisiac since the Roman times, oysters are truly a one-of-a-kind delight for all food lovers. You will enjoy an oyster farm tour with your host, a local farmer, who will take you for a private boat ride around the bay. You will learn how the oysters are grown and taste them fresh from the sea! Then, on his private island, under the shade of pine trees, he will make you a special treat: mussels alla buzzara. Relax and savour this traditional Dalmatian dish prepared with nothing but olive oil and local herbs, all topped with homemade wine.

On your way back to Dubrovnik, you will stop for a walking tour around the small town of Ston. Once - an important military fort of the Dubrovnik Republic, Ston is now a charming town with impressive 5 km-long medieval walls. The walls used to protect precious salt pans that contributed to the wealth of Dubrovnik Republic. With over 4000 years of history, and still in use today, Ston salt pans are among the oldest in the world. Your guide will take to visit the salt pans, as well as impressive Ston city walls for the perfect ending to your exploration of Peljesac.

Top Notch Tours and Hotels (Mostly)

Overall, we had a wonderful experience with this company, enjoying our hotels and tours immensely. The highlights were the Hotel Bellevue in Dubrovnik, Croatia; the private boat tour of the islands near Dubrovnik; the Hotel Monte Mulini in Rovinj, Croatia; and the Chef's Table dinner at Hotel Monte Mulini. Some lowlights were the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera in Punta Skala. It is very isolated and too far from the town of Zadar. In order to go to Zadar, it is a quite expensive taxi ride away, so we were not motivated to eat dinner anywhere but at the resort, and both meals were mediocre. The Falkensteiner itself felt like a Disney World resort (not in a good way) with lots of families with small children and a massive hotel that felt like a giant cruise ship. Maid service was spotty, seemingly difficult to get good service with the large quantity of rooms they had to manage.

GREAT fun!

Our guide, Zrinka (sp?) was fantastic, a local professor with a great sense of humor - essential with our group of 9! We enjoyed the history of Croatia and Dubrovnik on our drive to a vineyard and wine tasting in a very nice, comfortable luxury Mercedes van. One at the vineyards we piled into trucks and drove up into the terraces with the winemaker, followed by a tasting...and purchasing..of some delicious Croatian wines. Following this we then headed to the oyster beds where we boarded a boat to a private island to enjoy fresh Croatian oysters followed by mussles, local wine and grapa. Z was very accommodating to changes to the schedule! We drove to the top of the cable car and then took the ride down, to be met by our driver. Z then accompanied us into the Old Town giving us the history and answering questions. We were so happy with our guide, she was accommodating of any changes from the original tour, she was insightful, very knowledgeable and charming. We would highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic, Lionel organised everything beautifully. The Hotels were great, small rooms but big enough. The Tours were excellent and you could enjoy all the tour or have shorter time if you wanted and change a tour if you were tired. I would certainly use Lionel again and will be passing on his name to our friends
