Today you will enjoy a full day tour with your guide and driver. You will start with a panoramic tour of Tirana, considered a relatively new city, although antique monuments and artifacts found around it testify to earlier beginnings. You will visit the interesting sites such as the Mosque of Ethem Bey (1798 - 1823) and the Clock Tower, Scanderbeg square with the monument of G.K. Scanderbeg, the national hero of Albania, National Historic Museum - the biggest Albanian museum institution; and many more.
Then you will continue towards the ancient town of Kruja. Famous Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, a XV century Albanian leader who resisted the Ottoman Empire for 25 years, has fought for Kruja. Your will visit the Old Bazaar with its famous shops full of silver filigree jewelry, authentic folk costumes, woven rugs, and traditional felt hats. You will also visit the most significant sight of Kruja, the citadel from the 5th/6th century; as well as the Ethnographic Museum that displays the reconstructed interior of an Albanian house around the year 1800. Exhibits include 19th century folk dress, as well as traditional copper goods and clay utensils. Within walking distance of the citadel are the Turkish baths, a church and rows of medieval houses.
This afternoon you'll continue towards Durres, the ancient Greco-Roman port-city of Dyrrachium. You will visit the famous Byzantine city walls, Roman amphitheatre and the Archaeological Museum.
Afterwards, your guide and driver will take you back to your hotel.
