Meet your driver and guide in the hotel for a private day tour of the towns of Kruja and Durres.
The ancient town of Kruja is where the famous Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg fought. He was a XV century Albanian leader who resisted the Ottoman Empire for 25 years. Your will visit the Old Bazaar with its famous shops full of silver filigree jewelry, authentic folk costumes, woven rugs, and traditional felt hats. You will also visit the most significant sight of Kruja, the citadel from the 5th/6th century; as well as the Ethnographic Museum that displays the reconstructed interior of an Albanian house around the year 1800. Exhibits include 19th century folk dress, as well as traditional copper goods and clay utensils. Within walking distance of the citadel are the Turkish baths, a church and rows of medieval houses.
Then you'll continue towards Durres, the ancient Greco-Roman port-city of Dyrrachium. You will visit the famous Byzantine city walls, Roman amphitheatre and the Archaeological Museum. Afterwards, your guide and driver will take you back to your hotel.
