Whether it’s limoncello or pappardelle frutti di mare, the Amalfi Coast is world renowned for its cuisine. Spend the day in legendary chef Mamma Agata’s kitchen and learn how to create a fabulous feast all’amalfitana!
In her teens, when ‘Mamma Agata’ was still ‘Baby Agata’, a well-connected American family vacationing in Ravello hired her to cook for them. By all accounts, she proved to be a natural in the kitchen, and before long each of the family’s celebrity guests had their favorite among Agata’s signature dishes: from Humphrey Bogart’s alici fritte and Anita Eckberg’s pasta e fagioli to Jackie Kennedy’s insalata caprese. Today is your chance to have a private demonstration of what it takes to make dishes fit for Hollywood royalty! This full-day experience starts with cappuccinos and Mamma Agata’s famous lemon cake, and continues with a demonstration by Agata and her daughter Chiara of traditional dishes like eggplant parmigiana, pappardelle with peppers and sausage, and chicken with Sorrento lemons. While the food cooks, you are welcome to wander around the family farm, where you might meet Agata’s husband Gennaro, who is busy tending the vineyards, olive trees and tomato vines or feeding the chickens and rabbits. Then it’s time to sit down on the panoramic terrace 1,000 feet over the sea and pop the corks on the family’s sulfite-free red wine for their feast all’amalfitana, which ends – like all good feasts should – with a glass of homemade limoncello and a toast with your new-found culinary skills.
(Tour duration: 7 hours - Lunch is included in the price and VERY filling. We recommend you skip breakfast – and possibly dinner!)
