This morning your private guide will meet you at your hotel and you will discover the legendary Left Bank district.
The Latin Quarter, named by Rabelais after the students & professors who spoke Latin in the classrooms & the streets, contains more history & beautiful monuments than any other part of Paris. During this relaxing walk you will make your way from the Pantheon, the final resting place of France’s most famous citizens, to the manicured Luxembourg gardens via the infamous Boulevard St Michel. You will also enjoy walking through the beautiful St Germain des Pres with its art galleries & swanky boutiques.
You will also discover the magnificent & historical Notre Dame cathedral located on Ile de la Cité. From there, you can continue on to Ile St Louis - probably one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Paris, with its elegant 17th century townhouses lining the quais next to the Seine. You will find charming gift shops, wonderful bookstores, specialty food shops, and we will not forget to mention the famous Bertillon ice creams and sorbets where you will be able to treat yourself.
Today you will also have a visit to the Musee d’Orsay. Located on the Left Bank of the Seine and housed in the former Orsay railway station, the Orsay museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography.
Late October 2011, the museum reopened its Impressionist wing after a two-year, and nearly $11 million, renovation. The new wall color and lighting showcase the hundreds of works in a stunning new way. The collection includes 34 Manets, 86 Monets, 43 Degas, 56 Cezannes, 81 Renoirs, 24 Van Goghs, and 24 Gaugins. A must see!
There is no pre-set itinerary, your private guide will customize the tour to your wishes with the time allowed.
