At 1:00pm you will meet your professional guide holding a name sign at the pre determined meeting point and start your private half day Jewish Heritage tour in Istanbul.
First, you will see the graceful curved double staircase, know as Kamondo Staircase. The staircase was built in the nineteenth century on the order of the Kamondos,the Jewish community's most prosperous family.
Next, you will visit the Neve Shalom Synagogue, where many weddings and Bar Mitzvahs' take place today. If there is no scheduled event for this day, you willhave a chance to see the inside of the Synagogue. You will also visit the Jewish Museum located inside of the Neve Shalom Synagogue. Here you will see the Ottoman and Turkish influence on the Jewish community in Turkey.
Then, you will drive to the Balat area of Istanbul with a splendid view of the Golden Horn where the Star of David appears on the facades of some buildings. Balat wasone of the most important Jewish settlements in Byzantine and Ottoman times.
At the end of your day, you will return to your hotel or to the port or other meeting point.
