Beijing City Tour
Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world. On the north side of the square is the Tiananmen Gate, which overlooks the Square. It was from the balcony of the Tiananmen gate, on October 1, 1949 that chairman Mao proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China. From a huge portrait on the south side of the gate, Mao gazes onto Tiananmen Square, and behind the Tiananmen Gate, inaccessible to commoners for over 500 years, lies the iconic Forbidden City. Continue visit to Forbidden City (Closed on Monday) Commissioned by Emperor Yongle of the Ming dynasty, the Forbidden City was completed in 1420 and was home to 24 emperors until the last Qing emperor, Puyi, left in 1924. The entire imperial complex is reputed to have 9999 rooms, which at its peak, housed up to 10,000 people, including the imperial family, 3,000 eunuchs, as well as maids and concubines, all contained within 170 acres. Today, the gates of the Forbidden City lead to a fascinating display of Chinese history in what is probably the best-preserved site of Classical Chinese architecture. Lunch at local Chinese restaurant.
Wet Market Tour + Cooking Class
Regarded as one of the world’s great cuisines, Chinese food is much loved the world over. In this fun and very much hands-on cooking class try your hand at making some classic Chinese dishes in an exquisitely restored hutong courtyard house. You’ll get to learn about the many and varied regional flavours of Chinese cookery, the use of Chinese spices and condiments, wok and cleaver skills, and of course, make some of your favourite Chinese dishes. Have dinner together and taste the first Chinese meal you prepared by yourselves.
Local Night Food Markets Tour + Wangfujing Eat Street + Tastings
Night Market Tour provides the opportunity for visitors to learn about and experience one of Beijing's most fascinating street food markets. This walking food tour spends time in Wangfujing Eat Street and Donghuamen Night Market, a street market that formally opened in 1984. These food markets, now a magnet for tourists from all around China as well as the world, offers over 100 different delicacies from candied strawberry-on-a-stick to barbequed lamb skewers. For the more adventurous eaters, these markets offer exotic bites, including scorpions, silk worms, beetles, and much more!
Tastings Include
Beijing's favorite dessert, sugar-glazed hawthorns
Yunnan province's sweet pineapple sticky rice
Xinjiang-style cumin-chili lamb kebab
Southwestern Sichuan malatang spicy bites
Stinky tofu(Above tasting is subject to availability and will be changed to similar types if any is not available)
Day 3
Beijing, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Beijing Breakfast, Lunch
Temple of Heaven Martial Arts & Dance Visit
The Temple of Heaven itself consists of a sequence of temples and altars set in a beautifully landscaped park. In Imperial China, twice a year the emperor and a magnificent procession of some 1,000 eunuchs, courtiers, and ministers would leave the Forbidden City for the temple where the emperor would entreat the gods to bless the coming harvest. The dominant feature of the complex is the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, which amazingly, was constructed without using a single nail or any cement; the walls and ceiling are supported by four huge timber pillars and a system of intricate timber brackets. Lunch recommended at Lost Heaven (Exotic Yunnan Ethnic Flavor).
Summer Palace Tour
The Summer Palace is one of the finest landmarks in Beijing. It has long been a royal garden and was considerably enlarged and embellished by Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century then later abandoned. Empress Dowager Cixi began rebuilding in 1888 using money that was supposedly reserved for the construction of a modern navy. Three quarters of the area is occupied by the lovely Kunming Lake. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake before walking the Long Corridor. This 728-metre corridor is decorated with 8,000 paintings including many from the emperor's travels around the country. As cameras were not available, the emperor would have artists paint the scenes that caught his eye. Transfer back to the hotel with rest of the day free at leisure on your own arrangement.
Day 4

The Great Wall Mutianyu Tour
As one of the wonders of the world, the Great Wall is a must-see on any visit to Beijing. Stand atop one of the ancient watchtowers and cast your eye towards the horizon, taking in the vast scale and sheer beauty of the Wall as it snakes its way across the tops of impossibly steep mountain ridges. Originally a series of smaller walls built to repel northern invaders, it was not until the unification of the empire under Qin Shi Huang Di in 221 BC that the various sections of the Wall were linked up. It is said that more than 300,000 men worked for ten years to complete it. The wall has a pounded earth interior with stone facing walls and stone roadway along the top. It was built wide enough to allow a brace of five horses to gallop between the battlements and was thus used to convey soldiers, arms, and food with great speed to various parts of the northern frontier.
Lunch at the Schoolhouse Mutianyu
Located at the foot of the Great Wall, The Schoolhouse is sustainable tourism project that is housed in a former primary school. It serves Western café style food with an emphasis on fresh local produced ingredients and seasonal produce, much of it grown on site.
Tofu Making Class in Mutianyu Villager's Home
Transfer back to the hotel with rest of the day free at leisure on your own arrangement.
Day 5
Beijing, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Xian Breakfast
Take flight heading to Xian.
Located on the Guanzhong Plain in central China, Xian is one of the oldest cities in China. With a history that dates back over 3,000 years, Xian was the capital of 13 dynasties including the Qin Dynasty, which first unified China; as well as the Tang Dynasty, often considered to be China’s golden age. Not surprisingly then Xian is a city brimming with history and culture. The main roads on its central axis intersect at the Bell Tower, which is over 600 years old; and Xian is the only large city in China that still has city walls. Its vibrant Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque are a memento of a time when the city was the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and had a large population of Muslim traders and merchants. As capital of the Tang Dynasty, Xian (or Chang’an as it was known at the time) was also where Buddhism first took root in China. And of course, the city is also home to the famous Terracotta Warriors, discovered in 1974 by some farmers digging a well on their property. Today’s Xian is the capital of Shaanxi province and is a vibrant city of over 8 million people that has far outgrown its city walls. In addition to the tourism industry it is also a major centre for China’s burgeoning telecommunications, software and aerospace industries. No doubt China’s first emperor and local boy, Qin Shi Huang, would be immensely proud.
Xian City Wall Tour
First built in the 2nd century BC when Chang’an (as it was then known) was an ancient capital of China, the city wall of Xian is one of the oldest and best preserved in all of China. The existing wall dates back from the Ming Dynasty and was completed in 1370 AD. The wall is about 14 kilometres in length and is surrounded by a deep moat.
Muslim Quarter Night Market Tour
The night market is busy, loud and awesome! The open air food stalls, juice stalls, nuts, fruit, meat and all of it will show a 2000-year old alive ancient capital city-Xian to you. With a strong and China-alike stomach, you are more than welcome to try hundreds of different foods there.
Day 6
Xian, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Xian Breakfast
Terracotta Warriors Tour + LunchOne of the world’s greatest archaeological finds, the Terracotta Warriors were discovered quite by chance in 1974 by a group of peasants who were digging a well on the outskirts of Xian. These sculptures of soldiers, chariots and horses were funerary statues made to accompany China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to the afterlife. The soldiers all vary in rank, posture, height, uniform and facial features and it is believed that there are still thousands of warriors, and hundreds of horses and chariots, still buried in the three pits discovered so far. Further excavations are currently halted as researchers try to find a way to preserve the colourful pigments that cover the statues from disintegrating once they are exposed to air. Nonetheless, the Terracotta army currently on display is an impressive sight and ranks along the Great Wall and Forbidden City as one of the must-see attractions of China. Recommended lunch at Real Love Restaurant.
Small Wild Goose Pagoda Tour
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda built in 707 and was named after the already existing Big Wild goose Pagoda, which it resembles. This pagoda was originally 45 metres high but damage caused by an earthquake in 1556 resulted in the Small Wild Goose Pagoda getting smaller, with its height being reduced to 43 metres.
Dumpling Class at De Fa Chang Restaurant
Jiaozi (Chinese dumplings) is one of the most popular foods in all of China and Xian is famous for its dumpling banquets. De Fa Cheng Dumpling Restaurant, located by the Bell Tower Square, specialises in these tasty morsels, elevating them to a fine art, with an infinite variety of colours, flavours, shapes and sizes. Each dumpling is hand wrapped and stuffed with freshly prepared fillings. Sweet, savoury, vegetarian, fruit-filled and many other different types of dumplings are available, each with its own design!
Transfer back to the hotel after the dinner.
Day 7
Xian, China

Hangyangling Museum
Also called Hanyang Mausoleum, 12.43 miles north from Xian, is the joint tomb of the fourth Emperor Jing (Liu Qi) and his queen in Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-24 AD). It is the most intact royal mausoleum and the most important tangible document in the research of burial customs and civilization from this dynasty ever discovered. Emperor Jing's reign, along with that of his father Emperor Wen, known as the Rule of Wen and Jing (180 BC-141 BC), was considered to be one of the golden ages in Chinese history.
Morning transfer to Xian Airport for flight heading to Chengdu.
Upon arrival you will be greeted and transferred.
Giant Panda Research & Breeding Center Visit
Founded in 1987, the Centre boasts one of the best panda mating rates in the world—especially impressive since pandas only mate once a year and are extremely picky in their choice of partner! The Centre has two types of 'accommodations' for giant pandas - the Captive Cages and the Semi-nature Enclosures. Most of the giant pandas in the Centre stay individually in the captive cages, which are in fact large enclosures, each consisting of an indoor room and an outdoor courtyard. The semi-nature enclosures are very large wild areas protected by border fences. Those giant pandas that will soon be released back to the wild will be put in the semi-nature enclosures for a long enough period of time for them to adapt to the natural environment. Although food has to be provided, the giant pandas will sleep there, eat there and recover their natural survival skills there until they can be released back to the wild.
Hot Pot Dinner in Kuanzhai Xiangzi District
Wide and Narrow Alley is a very upscale, posh area, with old-style pagoda buildings tastefully renovated. It is a network of three pedestrian alleyways collectively known as Kuan Zhai Xiangzi. It is located west and slightly north of Tianfu Square, and just a block northwest of People's Park. This is an area of really expensive restaurants and tea-houses, but really worth a stroll. As a smaller version of the famous Jinli Street, Kuan Zhai Xiangzi offers many of the same tourist nicknacks, but makes a great outing when coupled with a stroll around People's Park, just 5 minutes away. A big pot filled with hot spicy oil and surrounded by plates of raw meats and vegetables. The pieces of meat and vegetables are sliced very small so they will cook very quickly. Most of the pots used in hotpot are divided into two sections. One half is filled with the spicy oil, and the other is filled with a delicious broth for those who are not a big fan of spicy foods. Restaurants are also more than happy to turn down the heat on request.
Transfer back to the hotel after the dinner
Day 8
Chengdu, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Chengdu Breakfast, Lunch
Sichuan Chili Bean Paste Factory Visit
First see how the famous Sichuan chilli bean paste is made. In Chinese, there is a saying to the effect of, “Without Pixian chilli bean sauce, there is no Sichuan cuisine.” The climate in Pixian County, for which the sauce is named, i s hotter and more humid than the rest of the province, and thus is well suited to the sauce’s production. The sauce must be hand-stirred every day, and on days when the weather is sunny, the lids are opened to allow the Sichuan sun and dew in, giving the sauce its unparalleled flavor.
Museum of Sichuan Cuisine Cooking Class
Next, visit the Museum of Sichuan Cuisine and learn to cook a few dishes yourself Today, you will visit the only museum in the world dedicated to the culture and history of a local cuisine. Exhibits range from antique utensils to models of dishes to a small farm with livestock. For many guests, the highlight is the outdoor courtyard holding hundreds of large clay pots for fermenting chilli bean sauce, one of the defining features of Sichuan cuisine. When you’ve finished feasting your eyes on the museum’s offerings, try your hand at reproducing some of the famous dishes at the cooking school in the museum. Your private class will be taught by an English-speaking instructor, who will show you how to make two classic Sichuan dishes. Afterwards, the fruits of your labour make for a tasty lunch.
Wenshu Temple Tour + Local Tea Ceremony
Traditionally, tea ceremonies in Chengdu involve a three-piece tea set, namely the teacup, lid and tea tray. In fact, teapots are not even used to make tea in this region; the te a is instead made inside the porcelain teacup with its fitted lid. Tea trays are traditionally copper. The tea made with these sets must be of appropriate colour, fragrance, taste, and form, but most importantly, of proper Sichuan flavour.
Transfer back to the hotel after the dinner.
Day 9
Chengdu, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Shanghai Breakfast, Dinner
Morning transfer to Chengdu Airport for flight heading to Shanghai.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by your guide.
Situated on the estuary of the mighty Yangtze River of China, Shanghai was originally a small seaside fishing village settled since before the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). It wasn’t until 1927 that Shanghai was officially declared a city. By then Shanghai was already bustling and had been a centre of international commerce, finance and trade since the mid 19th century when it was declared a treaty port after the first Opium War. Shanghai of the twenties and thirties was a truly cosmopolitan city with a reputation to match. Today’s Shanghai has regained it’s place as China’s preeminent financial capital, and with a population estimated to be in excess of 19 million it is also the largest city in China. It is without doubt the fastest paced city in China and is well on its way to once again being an exciting multicultural metropolis that blends effortlessly the modern and the traditional.
Bund Walking Tour
The Bund, also called Zhongshan Road, is Shanghai’s iconic waterfront and regarded as the symbol of the city for hundreds of years. It starts from the Baidu Bridge, which is at the connecting point of the Huangpu River and the Suzhou Creek, to the East Jinling Road and winds southeast for about a mile. Walking along the Bund, which is at the west shore of the Huangpu River, the unique shape of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower can be seen on the opposite side as well as the tallest building in China, the Shanghai World Financial Center.
Shanghai Cuisine Banquet
Tonight you will have a local Shanghai Cuisine banquet at Xian Qiang Fang.
Day 10
Shanghai, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Shanghai Breakfast, Lunch
Old Town & Yuyuan Garden Tour
A place of peace and comfort in the heart of bustling Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden dates back to the fabled Ming Dynasty. Now a popular tourist destination, Yuyuan began as a private garden created by Pan Yunduan, who spent almost 20 years - and all of his savings - to build a garden in order to please his parents in their old age. That is why he called this garden "Yuyuan"as "yu" in Chinese means "peace and health". During the past 400 years, Yuyuan, although restored and reopened several times, was most often in disarray. Due to the decline of the Pan family after Pan Yuduan's death, Yuyuan gradually fell into disuse. Although the local caretakers improved the garden, several civil conflicts in the mid-19th century caused great damage. In 1956, the Shanghai city government reconstructed the garden and restored it to its former splendor.
Dim Sum Lunch
Among scores of different types of dim sum, Pan fried dumplings (Sheng Jian Bao in Chinese) and steamed Little Bun (Xiao long Bao in Chinese) are the most popular ones in Shanghai. Both are with pork stuffing.
Shanghai World Financial Center Visit
The Shanghai World Financial Centre, with its unique rectangular opening at the top of the tower for wind tunnelling is an instantly recognizable landmark in the Shanghai skyline. Currently the third tallest building in the world, it has a level located above the opening that offers a birds eye view of the city from the world’s highest observation deck. Dinner highly recommended at Hakkasan (Paid on clients’ own arrangement)
Day 11
Shanghai, China
Centrally Located Hotel In Shanghai Breakfast, Lunch
Taste of Daily Life Tour
If you’re looking for a green refuge from Shanghai’s concrete jungle, there are plenty of parks to recharge your batteries in. Shanghai's parks are splendid places for a stroll, combining scenic vistas with people-watching. They are particularly lively at dawn, when locals gather for their morning exercises ranging from taiji quan (tai chi) to ballroom dancing. Due to the scarcity of play space for children, nearly all parks have a children's section, however small or dilapidated. You will visit featured Shanghai old alleys and vegetable market, and visit a native family, lost yourself in the pleasure of learning Shanghai dialect, chatting and making friends with local people. You and your family will freshly experience the local life of Shanghai people and their warm hospitality. Lunch at local family for homemade food.
Kitchen Cooking Studio: Dumpling Making Class
Located in a 19th century garden house, The Kitchen offers cooking classes of a wide range of cuisines, and provides cooking party services. Everything they do is rooted in a passion for fresh, authentic, soulwarming food. Founder & Executive Chef Norris Chen takes inspiration from seasonal ingredients and “non-additive” cookery concept to create the “Kitchen Exclusive” recipes. The studio’s well-equipped kitchen, centrally located in the former French Concession area, has a classic marble island and a cozy dining area. It is an exclusive retreat for people who appreciate the joy of cooking.

The wine and cheese "tasting" was a joke. Same with the Louvre Museum tour. It was supposed to be from 5:30 to 8:30. We were picked up at 5:15 pm but didn't get into the museum until around 6:30. The tour ended exactly at 8:30. The guide was fine. We are hoping for a partial refund for these 2 tours.

Florence was amazing! Private cooking class & tours were marvelous, especially private tour of the Uffizi including rarely seen Vasari Corridor (built 1564 atop Ponte Vechio). Private tour to Siena & home winery with lunch was awesome. Can't rave enough about 8-day Florence stay including Hotel Bernini. Second week was totally different and not as memorable, but fascinating nonetheless: toured Bordeaux wine area on Viking River "cruise" which was more floating hotel than cruise (in comparison, 15-day cruise Amsterdam to Budapest on Viking Braggi last year was awesome!). Private tour of Hine Cognac house in Jarnac was outstanding as was trip to Saint Emilion to view top wineries. Final 3 days were in Paris (superb hotel: Grand Hotel du Palais Royal). Very private gourmet dinner cruise on Don Juan II (Yachts de Paris) was grand & pricey, but well worth it for scenic tour & luxury. Private guided driving tour of Normandy to pay our respects (14 hrs - top guide again) was excellent

We had several occasions when the transfers we had paid for did not materialize. We were double charged at one hotel. Was that because we never received the original vouchers. They were sent to the wrong address. The hotels were acceptable. The rail travel was substandard even though we supposedly had first class seats. The seating was open so that didn't help and the air conditioning was not working on two of the trains. The rental cars were in the wrong driver's name which caused problems and caused us to have to pay extra for another driver. We were not able to use one of our prepaid train tickets due to our flight being redirected to Rome rather than Milan. That was not Avanti's fault but none the less a problem.

Our Avanti Barcelona Sightseeing Tour with Lunch was exciting. This tour was full of all things Barcelona! We definitely feel like we got the best highlights of this wonderful city. Our tour was actually divided into 2 tours with lunch in between the tours. Nothing on our voucher indicated this and it would have been nice to know so we would have known more how our day was structured. Our first tour guide Amalia, was very knowledgeable, bubbly and charasmatic! She was concerned about everyone on the tour and wanted us to have an enjoyable tour. We even went on a tram ride with a view overlooking Barcelona, an unexpected surprise. The afternoon tour guide was not as personable but was sufficient. Our tours consisted of bus transportation and walking tours. The main negative on this tour was that it ended in the middle of a busy street in Barcelona and we were not transported back to our Wamos tour location that we left from. We were all just left to find our way in a Foreign city!

We have used Avanti services in the past and been very satisfied. We recently use Avanti services when we traveled to Florence, Italy and Athens, Greece. The semi-private walking tour we booked in Florence was one of the best we've ever had. The two tours we booked out of Athens--Acropolis and the Temple of Apollo--were satisfactory but could have been better had they been equipped with the broadcast/hearing devices we were provided on several other tours.

Wonderful Trip

The package that was put together for us was wonderful. We experienced everything that we wanted to and definitely got every penny out of our trip. We stayed in 2 5-Star and 1 4-Star hotel/resort for much less than we would have expected and they were all in very beautiful and convenient locations. Our taxi/ferry/travel schedule was put together very well and easy to understand. The tours that we had were great experiences, really fun and helped us immerse ourselves more into the local culture and history. The only downside was that we were told that we would have a gift in the room included in the last hotel and that gift was not there - and the hotel did not know anything about it. Considering that was the only thing that was wrong with the trip though, it was pretty easy to overlook. It was still a very wonderful trip and we would definitely recommend Avanti Destinations to other travelers.

This is our second trip that our Advisor, Izumi Ogawa, used Avanti Destinations. And just like the last time, Avanti used top notch partners to execute their well thought out plans. And it doesn't seem to matter what part of the world they are focusing on. Our first experience with them was a trip to Europe and this time, on the opposite side of the globe, Indochina. From Italy, Switzerland, and France the first time to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos this time. It didn't faze them even a little bit. They only seem to have one speed...maximum performance! Even in a remote area like Luang Prabang, they provided a well spoken and knowledgeable guide to usher us for a full day on two wonderful tours...Tham Pak Ou Cave and Kuang Si Waterfalls. In the past we have been subjected to tour guides that were supposedly speaking English, but we weren't entirely sure. Not with the partners that work with Avanti. Not only very understandable but also personable and just plain nice. Great job Avanti.

As a whole the tours were fine. Well planned and very professional. I would however NEVER recommend the hop on/ hop off bus in London. London is so crowded we basically just sat in traffic 1/2 of our first of two days with a hop on/off pass. The narration of the "City Tours" bus left much to be desired. They just basically said "here is Buckingham Palace" no details or history etc. We finally decided to take the subway ourself and saw much more of London. People would be much better served by just buying an oyster pass and traveling on their own. The hop on/off tour in Edinbrugh was much better as that is not a crowded city and the tour was much more organized.

We had to work with them because our party consisted of two adults and a teen. Finding family accommodations was a bit more difficult. We suggest that this company secure more hotels that are geared toward travelling families. One hotel in Cordoba was particularly difficult to find as we were driving. Would not pay for first class again on trains as we were unable to get our first class seats first because train was late and missed the second train and just had to jump on another and second because there was no indication of which train on the way to Pisa and apparently there were 2 within 15 mins, we got on first one which had no first class and stopped in every town - major pain - and did not know until too late. The second one apparently would have had our seats and been faster but it was very unclear. Also we LOVED the villa, but half way through our time there the Padrone showed up and was loud and rude and the wonderful caretaker disappeared when he was there and we had no recourse. ruined 2 days. had no way to get any assistance.

Roberts Grove in Placencia was our favorite, with the most friendly, accommodating staff. And the tour we took of the Monkey River was great. But mostly it was the people. The San Ignacio Hotel was the most luxurious, and was a beautiful setting. In addition, the tours from there were the best. They went off without a single hitch, and Fidelio, who was our guide on two tours was so very knowledgeable about the Mayans, and about the native plants and history.

We were very pleased with Avanti and the tour planned for us on the "Outlander" trip to Scotland. We started in Edinburgh and immediately began using the passes that were provided including the Bus Tour, Edinburgh Castle, the awesome Tea Room, and the Edinburgh Museum. I really thought both were great and the Heritage Pass was a great "bang for the buck" since we were able to use it in many places that were on the tour. The hotel accommodations were quite good for the most part. We were a bit let down with the hotel in Edinburgh but I believe that it would be very difficult to find an affordable hotel so close to the tourist sites there so I personally found the hotel OK especially with the nice breakfast. All the other places we visited and hotels were great and really put us in the mood to be in Scotland, seeing the amazing Scottish Highlands while also experiencing the remarkable history including the story of the Jacobites and the feeling of the Outlander movie. When we arrived at the Hotel Villajardin we were told that we had no reservation there and our luggage was not there. The man at the desk made a phone call and then said I know where your reservation and luggage are. They were at the Hotel Ferramentierro- across town! After a very long day of hiking, we were not happy to have to hike across the city to a different hotel. The hotel was fine as we were the accommodations and restaurant. Something shady was definitely going on their end with the reservation...The other was the cancellation of our trip home from Madrid due to "no crew", but we were eventually put on a different flight.

They were all very professional & personable. The hotels were all very clean, the staff all very helpful & professional as well. The 1st 2 hotel rooms were a little on the small size but manageable. The 2nd 2 hotel room had a little more “elbow room” & felt a bit more comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfasts at the 2nd 2 hotels the most as they included eggs, sausage & bacon ...not just breads, cakes/cookies, yogurt, cold cereal & a little fruit. All our tours were small group tours with English speaking guides. In the case of the Louvre ended up being a personal tour for us...fabulous! Just ok

The tours we took were ok. Paris had lots of driving in SUV's, and people in the middle seats do not see very much. One of the Paris driver had an accent that was just too difficult to follow. Also, on one of our excursions they tried to patch together participants from two different locations in a way that was impossible without making somebody sit and wait for a long time and then the entire tour was delayed so we wasted lots of time in rush hour traffic. The coach driver (don't try to find the buses - they are coached) in London had us walk down a long, complicated route at Windsor Castle and told us to be sure to keep track of the twists and turns so we could get back to the coach. Not easy, and we were in a big panic when we got lost. Hotel in Paris and event passes in London were great. It would be helpful if the subway material included more specifics about validating the passes and the nuances of getting through the entrance and exits of the turnstile in Paris, etc.

Taste of Ireland

By: Gman

Reviewed on: 25 Sep 2018

The itinerary was packed with a lot of experiences and we really enjoyed ourselves. The "Taste of Ireland" was truly that, a taste of almost everything the country had to offer. If it's your first time in country this is a good choice. On your second trip you can pinpoint where you want to spend more time. Most of the sites we visited were expecting us, as were the hotels. A couple of experiences you will need to call in advance, mainly the farms. And, don't travel too late into September as folks in Ireland are looking forward to the season ending and starting their holiday! The only thing I would change is the next to the last night (Galway). There was a longer road trip that day with 2 experiences. The hotel was on the other side of Galway making you have to navigate back through the city in the morning to get to your last 2 experiences. You also have to get to Dublin the same day making you feel rushed.

Disappointed in France

By: Middle of 9

Reviewed on: 30 Sep 2018

Our first tour was over 30 minutes late due to traffic that the driver was not made aware of in advance. This problem created another one for my sister traveling in a wheelchair. The driver had to park farther away due to a special event. Avanti was difficult to reach when our first hotel they arranged for us did not have air conditioning in all the rooms. I counted on my travel agent to help us and she did.

For the most part it was excellent. We were unable to make a few train reservations and 1 hotel so we had to do that on our own. The train situation was weird because the schedule was available online for us to make them on our own. You don't have hotels on your site for Peñiscola which is a shame because it's a beautiful beach town.

A bit confusing, especially in Iceland

Reviewed on: 28 Nov 2018

While the tours themselves were excellent and prices competitive, Avanti's confirmation documents were a bit confusing. They did not list the tour company so I had to have the hotel concierge track down all of our reservations and re-print out confirmations. I think this was acutely difficult in Iceland because all of the tours pick up at the same location so its extremely important to have clarity into which company bus you are searching for.
