Santorini remains the home of a small, but flourishing, wine industry and what better way to discover these Aegean varietals than visiting the islands wineries.
Your tour begins with a scenic tour around Santorini, where you will enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the picturesque white washed villages along your route. You will also stop off at three long-established family wineries, where you will be given a fascinating glimpse into the production of Santorini wine by an experienced local wine Sommelier, starting with the selection and variety of the grapes and ending with bottling the finished wine. Sampling fifteen of the finest Theraic Wines you will also taste the most famous Santorini wine, the sweet Vinsanto.
One of the highlights of the tour will be to see a special and unique technique of vine pruning developed on the island called Kouloura, a wreath or basket used in the process, which is shaped like a traditional Greek sesame seed bread ring.
