Start your tour with a visit to the new Acropolis Museum where nearly 4,000 artifacts are on display providing a remarkable insight into the everyday life of the ancient Greeks.
From here, you will proceed to the Acropolis and visit the ancient temples of Parthenon, Erechtheion and Athena Nike, before climbing Philopappos Hill, where there are spectacular views of the Acropolis, the city and the port of Piraeus. On your descent, you will stop off at the Pnyx, once the meeting place for the democratic assembly.
The itinerary includes a visit to Plaka where you will enter the area close to the Thission Temple and pass the Ancient Agora, best-known for its notable monuments - the Stoa of Attalus, Hadrian's Library, and the Tower of the Winds. The route back takes you over the marble hill of Areopagus, renowned for the speech delivered there by the apostle Paul regarding the identity of the unknown god.
The tour moves on and passes the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, before continuing to the Parliament Building in Syntagma Square, to watch the ceremonial changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Finally, enjoy a beautiful coastal drive, stopping off at Lake Vouliagmeni before continuing along the Limanakia to Cape Sounion and the ancient ruins of the Temple of Poseidon. There will also be a break for a traditional meal during the tour.
It is highly recommended to wear shoes with rubber soles when visiting the Acropolis. Expect uneven surfaces and some steep inclines.
