DAY LOCATION(S) HOTEL MEALS DESCRIPTION
Day 1
Altaisk, Russia
Lesotel Lodge Dinner

Catch your domestic flight from Moscow to Gorno-Altaisk, the starting point of your Altai adventure. Here you’ll transfer to your cozy chalet accommodation on the banks of the River Katun, relax for the evening and get a good night’s rest.

Day 2
Altaisk, Russia
Lesotel Lodge Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After a hearty breakfast, spend the day as you choose, getting acclimatized to your Altai surroundings. Take a four-wheel drive jeep tour into the countryside, or go rafting on the Katun. Sample some local food and bed down in your chalet once again for the night.

Day 3
Altaisk, Russia
Lesotel Lodge Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Wake up for an early breakfast - an exciting day lies ahead of you. Climb aboard a helicopter and marvel as the ground drops away and you glide up and over the Altai peaks including towering Mount Belukha, the highest point in Siberia. Catch the glint of 5,000-year-old glaciers and the green and verdant foothills below.

Day 4
Chibit, Russia
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Depart early and hit the road for Chibit via the Chuysky Tract, Seminsky Pass and Chiketaman Pass. The Tract connects Mongolia with Russia and is world renowned as the most scenic route in the region, not to mention for its historic significance. Along this ancient trade and migration route, you’ll make stops to visit sacred burial mounds, marked with mysterious petroglyphs and drive through cities, villages, forests, taiga and steppe. After a day of wonder, arrive in the evening at your eco-camping ground at Chibit for a peaceful night immersed in nature.

Day 5
Chulyshmanskoye Nagorye, Russia
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Get ready for a full day off-road driving, stopping at picturesque beauty spots. Head along the north Chuya mountain range to the Kurai steppe where you’ll find yourself gazing out over a surrounding horse-shoe of peaks. In the afternoon, your four-wheel drive will navigate the winding Katu-Yaryk Pass and along the way you can check out the Pazyryk kurgans - more mysterious Scythian burial mounds. Camp for the night in wooden chalets in the Chulyshman river valley – one of the most remote places in Asia.

Day 6
Artybash, Russia
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning you have a number of options. You can hike up to the Stone Mushrooms - bizarre rock formations weathered by nature; take a helicopter over Chulcha waterfall, or, if you’re feeling adventurous, trek down to it. Alternatively, spend the morning fishing on the river. In the afternoon it’s back on the road, bound for beautiful Lake Teletskoye, which you’ll cross in a speedboat, alighting at Artybash village on the north bank. Here you’ll spend the night in a cozy hotel.

Day 7
Novosibirsk, Russia
Marriott Hotel Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Wake up once again in gorgeous Altai scenery with another adventure ahead. Today you’ll take the two and a half hour helicopter flight to the city of Novosibirsk. This, the third-largest city in Russia is a trade center and bustling metropolis and you’ll spend the night in a 4 star hotel.

Day 8
Novosibirsk, Russia
Marriott Hotel Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

You’ll spend today exploring this fascinating city and its surroundings. Visit the world’s only scientific city at Akademgorodok and explore its museums and the nearby Ob reservoir. After lunch at the House of Scientists, take a sightseeing tour of all the main attractions, from Novosibirsk’s railway station, Ascension Cathedral and Lenin Square to the old wooden houses on Gorkogo Street and the colorful Siberian farmers’ market. Take in some local customs with a Samovar tea drinking ceremony or Matreshka doll-painting masterclass before retiring to your hotel.

Day 9
Novosibirsk, Russia
None Breakfast

After breakfast at your hotel, it’s time to bid farewell to stunning Siberia. You’ll be transferred to the airport ready for your onward flight to your next exciting destination.

The Remote Lands Guides were excellent. The cars used for transportation were roomy and clean. The hotels were 5 star and their attention to detail was over the top. There was only perfection from the people we met and it was also comforting to know that our trip was being carefully monitored by Remote Lands supervisors every step of the way. We would recommend Remote Lands to anyone needing exceptional service in Asia.
