Nepal On Two Wheels: Kathmandu & the Himalayas (5 days)

Itinerary

DAY LOCATION(S) HOTEL MEALS DESCRIPTION
Day 1
Kathmandu, Nepal
Dwarika's Hotel Dinner

Landing for the first time in Kathmandu, the Nepalese capital, can be an experience in itself, as the snow-capped mountains come into view and the clouds gradually clear to reveal the airport's runway. A representative is waiting for you at the airport, ready to handle visa formalities and send you to your hotel in the city. Unpack your bags, get debriefed on the cycling schedule for the next few days, and then spend the rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 2
Dhulikhel, Nepal
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Take to wheels after breakfast at your Kathmandu hotel, departing the capital towards the medieval Newari town of Bhaktapur. Check out all the historic sites here with your English-speaking guide before getting back on the route towards the day’s final destination of Dhulikhel, situated around 25 miles from Kathmandu. The road climbs past terraced fields, through local villages and into the jungle, arriving at Dhulikhel in time for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3
Namobuddha, Nepal
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Back on the bikes, head out of Dhulikhel towards the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Namobuddha. According to legend, it was here where Buddha – in his previous incarnation – offered his own flesh to a hungry tiger and her cubs; a stone statue marks the famous site alongside an impressive monastery (both of which you can explore on foot). Next, head back down the mountain into the green fields surrounding the ancient village of Panauti – another sacred Buddhist site – before completing the loop back to Dhulikhel.

Day 4
Kathmandu, Nepal
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This penultimate day of this Nepalese bike tour sees the group head back to Kathmandu via Banepa and Nala. The first stop on the bikes to Banepa offers the chance to see the famous ‘Chandeswori’ temple while the short climb to Nala uncovers a splendid local village. Head back through the pretty Newari farms en route back to the capital for one final overnight stay.

Day 5
Kathmandu, Nepal
None Breakfast

This fifth and final day marks the end of this five-day cycling tour around Nepal. Take a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, before a representative assists you with your trip to the international airport in time to catch your onwards flight.

The Remote Lands Guides were excellent. The cars used for transportation were roomy and clean. The hotels were 5 star and their attention to detail was over the top. There was only perfection from the people we met and it was also comforting to know that our trip was being carefully monitored by Remote Lands supervisors every step of the way. We would recommend Remote Lands to anyone needing exceptional service in Asia.
