Remote Lands, Inc

Mindat, Myanmar To Bagan, Myanmar

Valid for Departures Now Through: 30 Apr 2020

Day 1
Mindat, Myanmar
Yangon, Myanmar
None Dinner

Rise early to catch your flight to Nyaung Oo, a small town lying on the Irrawaddy River. Transfer to the river’s jetty and enjoy a 45-minute boat cruise to the Kyunchaung jetty. Climb into a jeep, and enjoy the scenery as you sit back on the way to Mindat, a little town at nearly 5,000 feet elevation. You will see the heart of the central dry zone and several toddy plantations. Once in Mindat, you’ll spend the night in a welcoming local guest house.

Day 2
Mindat, Myanmar
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Gain a beautiful cultural glimpse into the daily lives of the Mon Chin, Dai Chin, and Magan Chin tribespeople during your time in Mindat. The women have intricately tattooed faces, and the people still don their colorful, traditional dress. Sit down for a meal at one of the flat stone tables created near the tribe’s houses. Visit Kyarhto after a pleasant trek from Mindat. Meet members of the Mon tribe and learn about their ways of life. Enjoy a traditional dance performance and whet your palate as the welcoming tribe invites you to try their traditional rice wine. Return to Mindat and spend the evening back at your guest house.

Day 3
Aye Village, Myanmar
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Begin the day with a brisk two-hour trek to the Chait River. Along the way, you’ll pass through the Chin’s mountainside farmland. After crossing the river, travel up on foot for four hours to the Aye Village, a small, untrodden village spotted with little wooden huts. Walk beneath the fragrant pines before retiring for the night at either a local house or setting up camp in a tent.

Day 4
Mt. Victoria, Myanmar
None Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Trek from Aye Village beginning at eight o'clock in the morning, passing Mindat to see the town in daylight on your way to the summit. Orchids and Rhododendron color the hills as you make your way towards the top of Mt. Victoria. Close to the summit, you’ll stop at 9,800 feet. Set up camp and rest to complete your trip to the summit in the morning.

Day 5
Bagan, Myanmar
Mt. Victoria, Myanmar
None Breakfast

Early in the morning, trek to the top of Mt. Victoria and be awed by the incredible sunrise over the Burmese countryside. Trek back down to Kanpetlet, where a jeep will pick you up and take you for a delicious traditional lunch at a local restaurant in Saw Town. Drive back to Bagan, where you can either fly back to Yangon or spend the night at a hotel before beginning your journey home the next day.

The Remote Lands Guides were excellent. The cars used for transportation were roomy and clean. The hotels were 5 star and their attention to detail was over the top. There was only perfection from the people we met and it was also comforting to know that our trip was being carefully monitored by Remote Lands supervisors every step of the way. We would recommend Remote Lands to anyone needing exceptional service in Asia.

We had 4 different guides (one in each city) and they were all wonderful. We appreciated that they let us be flexible and make game time decisions. We skipped a lot of the "touristy" sites and felt we had a more authentic experience.

Excellent. Guides at each location were friendly, personable and knowledgeable. Want to share a special thank you to Nadia Thakul (Bangkok) & Mr. Buntheun (Siem Reap). After missing my connecting flight from Shanghai to Siem Reap, I called Mr. Buntheun to let him know I was not able tomake it to Siem Reap as planned and for him to notify the hotel. I was flying instead to Phnom Phen and would notify him later of my flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival in Phnom Phen as I was filling out my visa on arrival form, a Remote Land guide greeted me and told me that Mr. Buntheun had notified the Bangkok office of my predicament and sent him to greet me. As you can imagine being in a foreign land in an unplanned location he was a sight for sore eyes. He got me in contact with Nadia who then took care of the rest of the accommodations (hotel, transportation to/from airport and flight from Phnom Phen to Siem Reap the next day). Assistance provided by Remote Lands got us to Siem Reap on time.
