Your private driver/guide will pick you up at 7:30 a.m. for the two-hour drive to Normandy. Your first stop will be at the Caen Peace Memorial for an overview of World War II history, followed by a drive along the scenic coastline to see Juno, Gold and Omaha beachers—the sites of the Allied landings on D-Day.After a stop at the beautiful and very moving American Cemetery and Museum, you'll see the coastal defense batteries at Longues and Arromanches, and the artificial harbor built for D-Day. Stop en route to visit a cider and calvados cellar, and then for lunch (additional cost). Visit Pointe du Hoc where US rangers scaled the cliffs; then stop at the charming medieval village of Bayeux to see the famous 11th century Bayeux Tapestry illustrating the conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy. In the late afternoon, you'll reach your hotel, the Chteau La Cheneviere, located close to the Normandy beaches and a short distance outside Bayeux. This 18th-century chteau was occupied by German officers during World War II, and by Americans after D-Day. You'll have dinner at the hotel.

These events are chronicled in both the film “The Longest Day” and the HBO series “Band of Brothers.” After seeing the museum at St. Mère, you'll drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mont St. Michel, spectacularly situated just offshore at the boundary point between Normandy and Brittany.
