Tour the Basilica Cistern, largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city. The emblematic Hagia Sophia, the Hippodrome and the Palace of Ibrahim Pasa provide for amazing impressions and photo opportunities. Continue your sightseeing program at the city walls and Chora Church, the most beautiful surviving examples of a Byzantine church. The Golden Horn area with its magnificent 17th century Aynalikavak Palace. Day 3
Izmir, Turkey
Renaissance Izmir Hotel - 2 Nights Breakfast
Wake up to a sumptuous breakfast in Istanbul, with renewed energy to visit Topkapi Palace, started by Mehmet the Conquerer, and primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for over 400 years. This opulent palace complex is the subject of more colorful stories than most of the world's royal residences put together. Your local Cox & Kings guide will regale you with tales of mad prisoners, malevolent concubines and magnificent Sultans. Your guide will offer great restaurant recommendations for lunch. After lunch, transfer to Istanbul airport for a short flight to Izmir, in the western part of Anatolia. Check-in to the Renaissance Izmir Hotel, located in the heart of the city's commercial district, steps from the water front, the Kordon Promenade. Onto your next adventure: an orientation tour where you will admire the ancient Agora and the colorful markets, before stopping for tea or coffee at a Caravanseray, where a tasseographer reads your future from the patterns of coffee grounds and tea leaves. The evening is yours to stroll along the sweeping seaside promenade known as Kordon, and indulge in local fish and seafood – the kind that put Izmir on the culinary map of Turkey.
Day 4
Izmir, Turkey
Renaissance Izmir Hotel Breakfast
Make the Greco-Roman world come alive today with a full day excursion to the archeological area of Ephesus. At its peak during the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, the capital of Asia Minor once boasted a population of more than 250,000, second in importance and size only to Rome. Walk along the Royal Road, a 4th-century white marble chariot thoroughfare, whose most striking sight is the two-story Library of Celsus. Uniquely beautiful, with its restored facade, now the famed symbol of Ephesus, the library once housed 12,000 scrolls of papyrus manuscripts, making it the second largest in the ancient world after the library in Alexandria. As you continue, your private Cox & Kings historian illuminates the history behind some of the ancient city's major buildings, including the Ephesus Theater and the Terrace Houses, which are currently still undergoing excavation. Return to the hotel at the end of the day and enjoy the evening at leisure.
Day 5

Park Hyatt Istanbul - 2 Nights Breakfast
Depart Izmir via a domestic flight returning you to Istanbul this morning. Meet your local Cox & Kings Representative and transfer you to your hotel: the Park Hyatt Istanbul, luxurious boutique hotel offering genuine service and authentic hospitality in historic Istanbul. After check-in, more fascinating sights await you including Dolmabahce Palace, a blend of various European architectural styles built between 1843 and 1856 by Karabet Balyan, the court architect of Sultan Abdulmecid, on the shores of the Bosporus. Then cruise the aforementioned body of water separating Europe and Asia by private boat – the best way to enjoy the breathtaking skyline of Istanbul in the light of the setting sun.
Day 6
Istanbul, Turkey
Park Hyatt Istanbul Breakfast
Step aboard your private Cox & Kings town car, and let your driver and local guide whisk you away to an exciting and exotic world of Mosques and Bazaars. Later, begin explorations of the markets at the Spice Bazaar, and learn about the secrets of good coffee from a local roaster. the agency used too many different companies and out sourced the trips and guides to different areas that it was difficult to find who was responsible and who to contact in case of an issue. People will be better served if the same company was consistently used. Also if they have booked a room in a hotel, not to book the lowest category of the room in the hotel but give guests an option to book a room with a balcony or overlooking the water

I have a major issue with Cox and Kings as a “luxury supplier”.There is more to the term than booking expensive hotels and tours. A well planned, informative experience that ensures client satisfaction must occur. Communication with Cox and Kings was almost nil. There was virtually no information provided to us once they had payment. The final delivery of documents was nothing more than a copy of the original booking marked final. These documents (such as they were) came late. Cox and Kings excuse was they “were waiting on ‘final’ confirmation from suppliers”. Based on the start of our trip, it’s not clear that they were communicating with them any better than they were talking to us.  They failed to tell us that the in country flight could only accomodate 25lbs of luggage, great fun repacking. They screwed up the excursions planned at our first stop and we missed one. Another listed tour stop did not happen and several were not as described. GO ELSEWHERE!

Our travel agent used Cox and Kings for our group's three-day stay in Prague. The hotel, Hotel Paris, was wonderful and the tour guide was exceptional.  We had a wonderful time while we were there.  The only disappointment was the Hungarian folk dancing show/dinner.  The local singer and dancers did a very nice job, but the meal was not just bad, it was inedible.  Two slices of gristle in cold, gelatinous gravy, followed by cake so dry it was like sawdust.  Have a glorious time in Prague, but skip that dinner!

Incan Peru Done Perfectly

My wife and I just completed an ideal week in Peru arranged by Cox and Kings, America. The itinerary they planned was executed flawlessly. All the hotels, tours, meals and guides exceeded our high expectations. We stayed in Belmond hotels in Lima, Cusco, Urubamba & Machu Picchu. They are all exceptional; immaculate and well situated; large and well appointed rooms. The staffs are welcoming and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a memorable stay. Our package included breakfast and lunch. Hotel breakfasts had many choices both North & South American dishes; all tastefully prepared. Lunches at upscale restaurants with a great selection of Peruvian dishes. You’ll love Peruvian cooking & you will get plenty of it. You won't need dinner. Our guide, Henry Coavoy Goongora (we called him Henry), was excellent; able comprehend the subtleties of our questions. He went above & beyond to personalize our experience, e.g. arranging for my wife to ride a Peruvian Paso horse. We had a fantastic time.

Cox & Kings - India 2017

By: K.Bueso

Reviewed on: 10 Feb 2017

As a tour operator, I would definitely recommend Cox & Kings but I would make mention of certain concerning items which I have not seen with other tour operators such as G Adventures. The Good Cox & Kings made us feel welcomed since the day we arrived in India. A very friendly representative met us at the airport in India with our names on a board. This made us feel welcomed and safe. Also the representative was very helpful in some inquiries we had such as ATM withdrawal and purchase of a SIM Card at the airport. He was very friendly and conversational on the trip to the airport. At every step of the way, Cox & Kings had a representative to meet us and explain the process. We visited four different cities in India and they had several representatives assisting us to make sure the trip was great. The drivers were very professional and on time. The Kind of Bad Not sure if it was Cox & Kings or individual guides, but they push their "trusted" stores on to us for purchasing souvenirs

Inconsistency in Trip Planning

By: Anonymous

Reviewed on: 22 Oct 2017

There were many inconsistencies in the planning and execution of this recent trip. Turns out we could have gotten our China Visas in the States and could have bypassed Nepal which was our preference. Receiving other pertainent documents was also done at the last minute. Some of the hotel accommodations (in the countryside in Tibet) were not up to the standards of a trip of this caliber. The service and food at the Taj Tashi in Thimphu was also not up to par. The room at the Uma Paro was tiny and cramped. There was a very long day driving to Gantey, fours hours each way that could have been handled differently, by having us sleep overnight at the Gantey Lodge and returning the next day. Had we known It was a National Holiday in China for 8 days, we would have bypassed the one day in Chendu to see the Pandas; the crowds were horrific and made it very unenjoyable and impossible to see the Pandas even though we got up very early that day.

Great guides but didn't listen to clients

We had a difficult time getting what we wanted with this company. They wanted to fill every minute and we wanted lots of time to wander and explore. Also, my physical limitations made so much public transportation very difficult. The two guides we had were absolutely marvelous and tried to make up for some of the scheduling over programming. I cannot praise our guides enough for their kindness, competence, and knowledge.

WOW! This company was top notch. On top of every detail. Able to respond to last minute requests with ease. Every tour guide we worked with was top-notch. Every detail was considered. Even when we made a last minute request they responded. The night before we were leaving Buenos Aires to fly to Iguazu, we decided we wanted to leave some luggage behind so we could travel lighter - and retrieve it as we traveled back through Buenos Aires on our travel back home. I contacted Cox and Kings, who told me they would take care of everything. Within 15 minutes, I had a return phone call letting me know everything was arranged! Given another opportunity, I would work with Cox and Kings again WITHOUT HESITATION.
