9:00 am: Be met at the lobby of your hotel or at the pier of your boat in Aix en Provence or Marseille.
Cassis and Bandol, two small and distinct growing regions on the Côte du Provence produce the best wines of Provence. The vineyards of Cassis are shielded from the cold, dry winds of the mistral by a dramatic rock formation that is an ancient mariner’s landmark. The protected vineyards produce a superb crisp dry white wine. This morning visit the harbour of Cassis. We visit this lovely town tucked between the limestone cliffs, and sample the local delicacy, sea urchins enjoyed with a glass of Cassis’ famed AOC white wine.
Later, we tour Clos Sainte Magdeleine or another representative winery of Cassis. Then we travel to nearby Bandol for a bouillabaisse lunch (not included) in a seaside restaurant. Bandol produces superb reds and rosés using Mourvedre, Carignan, Syrah and other varietals. This afternoon experience rosé wines for which Château Romassan is famous. Also visit Domaine Tempier to taste their red wines before returning to your hotel.
5:00 pm: return to your hotel.
