Morning drive towards Reims (2 hour drive), often considered the capital of Champagne, an old French province made world-famous by its sparkling champagne. You may wish to visit the Cathedral classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a 13th–century masterpiece, with 2,500 statues of great interest and quality, including the famous smiling angel. During the morning we will visit the Veuve Clicquot House*.The story of Veuve Clicquot goes back to 1772, when a wonderful story begins: the birth of great wine champagne and the tale of an extraordinary businesswoman, who became known as “La Grande Dame de la Champagne”. Here thousands of bottles mature, resting quietly in the dark. Step by step, you will learn how Madame Clicquot revolutionised the making of champagne, creating the magical world of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin. Most importantly you will discover the pleasure of experiencing champagnes in the perfect environment. Enjoy lunch at leisure in one of the typical restaurants, suggested to you by your professional guide (lunch not included). Begin the afternoon with a lovely ride in the North of Epernay in the Montagne de Reims (known for its Pinot Noir). Enjoy a visit of Taittinger caves*. The guide will welcome you to discover the art of champagne making, at the heart of a unique place that links 4th century chalk mines with the vestiges of a 13th century Abbey.
