Zugspitze - Experience Germany´s highest mountain (close to Munich) (2 days)

Day 1
Garmisch-partenkirchen, Germany
Hotel am Badersee Dinner

Absolutely unique: Garmisch-Partenkirchen, located amidst breathtaking mountain scenery at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2962 m), is the epitome of vast and pristine alpine nature. It is a unique place in an awesome setting where outdoor activities are extraordinary experiences — between mountain and valley, in the water or in the air. It is a region that has shaped human beings and their culture. Here, you still find typical Bavarian traditions in their original form. A place where you get closer to nature and discover something about yourself.

Today you experience the city with a guide or on your own.

Day 2
Garmisch-partenkirchen, Germany
Zugspitze, Germany
None Breakfast

The Zugspitze. The Garmisch-Classic Area. Mount Wank: no other region in Germany can offer the same alpine adventures as these snow covered mountain landscapes around Garmisch-Partenkirchen. No other point in the federal territory is higher than the 2,962 metre high Zugspitze Peak. And no other place can compete with the sheer number of peaks crammed into the 360°panoramic view. Where else can you see 400 mountain peaks in four countries from one just vantage point? High above the clouds and far away from the trials and tribulations of everyday life, visitors revel in the fabulous downhill runs on the Zugspitze glacier, tobogganing on natural snow runs, glacial romance at the Igloo Village and much, much more.

Winter fans will find mountains of opportunity to indulge in alpine adventures in the Garmisch-Classic Area and on Mount Wank. Hovering over an abyss of an almost 1,000 metre vertical drop, the AlpspiX viewing platform will certainly give adrenalin junkies what they are looking for. And at the foot of the Alpspitze, the „Jewel in the crown of Werdenfelser Land“, will evoke a similar sense of elation with its inviting ski slopes and winter hiking routes. The mountain railways of Bayerische Zugspitzbahn whisk you up to a superlative mountain experience!

Excellent guide and driver

The guide was a former West Berlin native and spoke perfect English (well, the Queen's English anyway). He was knowledgeable, informative, and interesting. Our driver also spoke English and had grown up in East Berlin. He told us a bit of his story growing up. They were an excellent team and we really enjoyed our tours with them.

Alpine FIS Event and Garmisch

The Obermuhle in Garmisch was the best service I've ever had at a small village hotel. These folks even picked us up at the train station when the taxi wait was too long. I'd go back just to stay at this hotel and ski Garmisch.
