On your first day, you’ll transfer planes in Bangkok and take a flight to Chiang Rai. Along the way, admire the scenic landscape of green endless forest below you. In Chiang Rai, you’ll head to your hotel and rest relax for the rest of the day. We recommend staying at the gorgeous Anantara Golden Triangle or the luxurious Four Seasons Tented Camp, situated deep in bamboo jungles.

Spend the day exploring Chiang Rai on your own. We recommend visiting the stunning White Temple. Here, you can take a stroll through the beautiful ordination hall, which is decorated with elaborate silver mirrors and large mural paintings of Buddha. After, consider visiting the Hall of Opium, a museum full of fascinating exhibits explaining the historic, social and economic impact of opium.

 Take an excursion to the rich jungles in northern Thailand first thing in the morning. Here, you’ll get the rare opportunity to spend the day with elephants. First, you’ll participate in a mahout training class, where you’ll learn how to feed, bathe and ride the mesmerizing animals. After, finish the amazing day by taking elephant rides through the forest and feeding them bananas.

 Return to the thick forests and spoil yourself with a second day of camp activities. Rejoice with your newfound elephant friends and indulge in another elephant ride through the scenic jungles. Stare in awe as their strong trucks devour bananas and give them a final bath before leaving Chiang Rai.

 Depart Chiang Rai and drive to the thriving city of Chiang Mai. Here, you’ll spend the rest of the day discovering the city at your leisure. Take a stroll through town and enjoy the stunning scenery of mountains and lush countryside. After, check into your accommodating hotel in the late afternoon. We recommend staying at the elegant Four Seasons Chiang Mai, the 137 Pillars House or the Dhara Dhevi Hotel.

After breakfast, take a private guided tour of the fascinating city. See the remains of the ancient walled Old City, which was built to ward off Burmese invaders centuries ago. Next, visit the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a Buddhist monastery situated high in the hills. After, head to the heart of the city and experience the best shopping Thailand has to offer at lively night markets and bazaars.

Wake up and explore Chiang Mai on your own for the day. We recommend venturing outside the city to visit traditional hilltribes and temple villages. Here, you’ll learn about Thai culture and history as you walk through the rustic countryside. In the evening, board the accommodating Eastern & Oriental Express train and travel south overnight.

The Peninsula Bangkok Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Arrive in the capital of Bangkok and check in at your hotel. We recommend staying at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental, the Sukhothai, the Siam Hotel or the Peninsula Bangkok. In the afternoon, enjoy a private guided tour of the regal Grand Palace. Continue to Wat Pho, a famous Buddhist temple bursting with colorful pagodas and intricate gold statues.

Day 10

 Explore the hidden gems of the city and take a private biking tour in the morning. Cycle to the outskirts of the city to witness the scenic countryside. Continue until we reach the ancient temples of Wat Suan Sawan and Wat Dusit Dharam. Next, pedal to the alluring Lad Mayom Floating Market. Here, you’ll spoil yourself with local homemade ice cream while admiring the view of traditional market boats on the calm water. After a short rest, board a long tail boat and cruise through rustic villages, fruit orchards and canals. Return to Bangkok and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.

On your final day in Bangkok, take a private guided tour to Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrive in the ancient city and uncover temple and palace ruins. We also recommend visiting the Ayutthaya Historical Study Center to learn about the city’s fascinating history.

Fly to idyllic island of Phuket in the morning and spend the remainder of the day at your leisure. Consider spoiling yourself with a beach day. In the afternoon, you can relax on smooth white sand under the sun and take a dip in turquoise waters. After, rest up for the day ahead at your hotel. We recommend staying at the wonderful Andara Resort, the Amanpuri, the Trisara or the Sarojin.

Enjoy a free day in paradise. For the adventurous traveler, consider island-hopping to visit the many islets that surround Phuket. Head to the marina and book a sailing day tour or rent a luxury yacht for an amazing day at sea. We recommend visiting the breathtaking islands of Phi Phi, Coral and Racha.

Wake up to a day full of opportunity and discover the island at your leisure. The Remote Lands Guides were excellent. The cars used for transportation were roomy and clean. The hotels were 5 star and their attention to detail was over the top.
