Today's walking tour of Florence will begin with a visit to the Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore), the famous landmark of Florence. Continue to the Galleria dell'Accademia to see Michelangelo's David, and the Church of Santa Croce where many famous Florentines are buried, including Michelangelo and Galileo.
Your tour will also include a visit to the Uffizi Gallery, housing many of the world's most important art treasures. The Uffizi was built in 1560-80 as a suite of offices for Duke Cosimo I’s new Tuscan administration. Here you will enjoy a very special entry to the Vasari Corridor, the private, exclusive corridor built in 1565 by Giorgio Vasari, court architect to the Medici family. Having walked through this private route to the Pitti Palace on the south side of the River, enjoy some time taking in the Boboli Gardens, built as a private garden for the impressive Medici residence.
