The Valley of Buffaloes is located on the private property of a well-to-do farm owner who allows visitors to explore his enchanting valley. It is located between Trancoso and an Indian Reserve and is home to thousands of water buffalos. The interaction of the river, which floods the valley frequently, creates an area with high biodiversity allowing flora and fauna to thrive. With your expert biking guide, begin your biking excursion at the entrance of the valley’s protected area. You will bike along a dirt road, through lush vegetation past the entrance which leads to Itaquena Beach.

End your biking excursion and return by private transfer back to you your hotel where we recommend lunch at your hotel’s beach lounge and enjoy your afternoon at leisure on the beach. In the late afternoon, your host will meet you at the Quadrado entrance of UXUA and take you on walking tour of Trancoso’s Quadrado (main square). Trancoso and the region surrounding it was the landing point of the Portuguese explorer, Pedro Alvares Cabral, onto Brazil on April 22, 1500. It was founded by Jesuit Priests on 1583, with the name São João Baptista dos Indios. It was later named “Trancoso” after the town of Trancoso in Portugal. Named a world heritage site by UNESCO, this main plaza has a beautiful church—the first church of Brazil, small colorful houses—still in their original form, surrounded by charming restaurants that offer a laid back nightlife, which makes for a unique and fun summer escape. Enjoy the panoramic views from behind the church, which sits on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the Quadrado’s designer shops and craft workshops in the center of this charming village. End your walk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean followed by a recommended dinner.

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Itapimirim beach in private for your surfing activity (approx. 20 mins away) – weather permitting. Sspend the morning surfing with an expert surfer. The restaurant grounds offer the option to have lunch on a lookout a terrace or in the beach lounge on the sand.

There are various theories as to the origins of the art of capoeira, the most widely accepted being that it was developed by African slaves in Brazil based on the traditional dances from their homeland. It was made to appear as an innocent recreational dance so as to not arouse suspicions of the slave masters. After your class, your host will meet you at the main entrance of UXUA and take you by private transfer to the Casa da Cultura for a demonstration of capoeira.

Later, private transfer back to the Quadradro for your recommended dinner at Sao Joao Batista.
