For your first evening, an expert guide will take you out for a night walk in the surrounding jungle. Although the Costa Rican rainforest is unpredictable, with your expert guide and a flashlight, you will have the opportunity to see bats, insects, kinkajous, and other nocturnal animals which are integral to the jungle's biodiversity. Later, return to your lodge and enjoy dinner.

Day 2
Puerto Jiménez, Costa Rica
Lapa Rios Ecolodge Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Awaken to the morning sounds of the surrounding jungle. Your expert guide will take you down to the dock to board your private boat to head out into Golfo Dulce. Once you're in the gulf, your guide will cut the engine and you will jump into the water and go snorkeling, where you will have the opportunity to see a variety of different dolphin species, turtles, and even whales.

Then, in your private boat you will head up the Esquinas River, as you watch the vegetation and wildlife change. The water will change from the royal blue color of the gulf to the emerald green color of the river. Your expert guide will help you appreciate the difference in biodiviersity with the river's productive mangroves and estuaries, providing a home for a multitude of animal and plant species.

At mid-day you will return to the lodge to relax, and have lunch with views of the Pacific Ocean. In the afternoon, head out with your guide to hike through the virgin rain forest to pristine waterfalls and splash back along the Carbonera River.

Day 3
Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
Nayara Gardens and Nayara Springs Breakfast

After breakfast, you will be taken to Puerto Jiménez Airport to board your private plane to La Fortuna, located within the Costa Rican interior, and in the shadow of the majestic Arenal Volcano. You will be taken directly to your luxury hotel with beautifully-landscaped gardens and pools, and stunning views of the volcano.

After lunch, go with your personal guide into the forest canopy, where you will transcend to the upper level of the forest and go between the trees on hanging bridges. This will be your opportunity to experience a new level of the Costa Rican jungle, also with its distinct realm of wildlife and notable biodiversity. Be ready for an adrenaline-filled experience of going zip-lining in the canopy. It is the classic jungle experience, and this is one of the best sites in Central America to do it.

Afterwards, return to your hotel to relax and have dinner at the hotel's welcoming Altamira Restaurant which boasts the best food in the area.

Day 4
Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
Nayara Gardens and Nayara Springs Breakfast, Lunch

Embark on a diverse expedition to a crater lake with your expert personal guide. You will first go on horseback with your personal guide, riding through the forest pastures, across farmlands and trails to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. You will then continue on foot as you hike to La Fortuna Waterfall, a can’t-miss landmark of the area. It is a 70-meter high natural marvel with a natural pool of fresh, cooling water where you can swim and refresh after your trek.

Continue up the Chato Volcano with your personal guide until you reach the crater lake over the summit. There, rest and enjoy the water of this uncommon natural phenomenon.

Following the hike, you will be taken to a rustic villa where a private lunch will be prepared especially for your party. As you enjoy lunch, take in the fantastic panoramic views of the jungle and take a dip in your private plunge pool.

In the late afternoon you will return to your hotel where you will be able to relax in the warm pools looking up at the volcano.

Day 5
Pacuare, Costa Rica
Pacuare Jungle Lodge Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, depart your hotel to drive into the Pacuare Forest. You will be taken to the backs of the Pacuare River, where you will get on a raft with your expert guide and proceed the rest of the way to the lodge by the river with class-II and class-III rapids. Once you arrive at the Pacuare Jungle Lodge, enjoy lunch, and later relax after the rafting in the private plunge pool of your tree house bungalow. If you wish to venture out for the afternoon, enjoy the canopy hanging bridges and ziplines which connect the treetops of the forest. At the culmination of the expedition you will have the chance to rappel – the highest rappel opportunity in Central America.

Day 6
Pacuare, Costa Rica
Pacuare Jungle Lodge Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Embark on an active hike up into the Talamanca Mountains, home to the Cabecar indigenous group, the largest in Costa Rica. You will trek on the paths which the Cabecar have used for centuries. This group retains many of its traditional customs and beliefs. Unlike other groups, the Cabecar do not live in villages but in separate family units away from other neighbors. Your personal guide will oversee a meeting between you and the Zutkia, the local shaman as you learn about this group’s way of life. Your guide will be the interpreter, as the shaman speaks Spanish and his native Cabecar tongue. The Cabecar people do not have much contact with the outside world, and this visit will be discreet; afterwards you will hike back through the jungle to reach your lodge. The experience involves heavy hiking to reach these remote areas and is for the physically fit.

Day 7
San Jose, Costa Rica
None Breakfast, Lunch

You will depart the Pacuare Jungle Lodge the same way you arrived: by whitewater rafting, as you embark on a 3-hour, 14-mile adventure. Your trek on the mighty Pacuare River will take you through class-III and class-IV rapids. This will be an exhilarating and high-adrenaline experience.
