After looking around the market we drive back to Bangkok, taking lunch at a local restaurant en route.

This afternoon is at your leisure or available for local sightseeing (Again specific aspects of your Sightseeing, etc. can be discussed with your Guide) a possible suggestion would be to see Jim Thompson's House, the classic Thai-style former home of a Pioneer of the Thai Silk Industry (to your interest, as time and energy permits !) before returning to the Hotel

The Amazing Angkor Wat & Angkor Thom

This morning, we visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat.

This architectural masterpiece was constructed in the 12th century and covers an area of about 210 hectares.

We will enjoy exploring the many galleries with columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple. Intricately carved bas reliefs extend the length of the outer walls and corridors, depicting mythological scenes and day to day life at the time of Angkor's construction.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century).

See the South Gate with its huge statues, Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King, & Baphuon (recently re-opened after years of restoration).

Finally we visit one of the area’s most beautiful temples, Ta Prohm, which has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Its appeal lies in the fact that, unlike the other monuments of Angkor, it was abandoned and swallowed by the jungle, looking very much the ways most of the Angkor temples appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them.

Day 6
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor Breakfast, Lunch

Sunrise over Angkor Wat & Private Boat Trip on the Tonle Sap

Early morning transfer to the archaeological site for sunrise from Phnom Bakheng, one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you will have a spectacular view of the Western Baray and Angkor Wat.

We return to the Hotel for Breakfast.

Later in the Morning, we will drive beyond the main Angkor complex to visit another favorite temple amongst visitors – the enchanting Banteay Srei. It appears that the temple was designed to leave no space undecorated, and the fine carvings in pink sandstone are quite unique.

After Lunch at a local restaurant, we will take a break from visiting temples and enjoy a boat ride, in a traditional wooden boat, on the Tonle Sap. This is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in South East Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh.

We will see a "floating village" – boats have been converted to look like houses and the villages move from place to place following water levels Numerous waterbirds frequent the lake.

Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Luang Say Residence. Luang Prabang Breakfast, Lunch

At Leisure (or Further Temple Visits) - Fly to Luang Prabang

After breakfast, today is at your leisure or available for any further sightseeing in the Angkor Comples.

Possible suggestion:

This morning we continue our Temple Visits to Preah Khan. Built by the King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder-hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, the temple of Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation.

We can also see Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool Ta Som and Banteay Samre, one of the most complete complexes at Angkor due to restoration using the method of “anastylosis”. A unique feature is an interior moat with laterite paving, which when filled with water must have given an ethereal atmosphere to the temple

After lunch at a local restaurant, we visit to “Les Artisans d’Angkor - Chantiers Ecoles” of Siem Reap and spend time at the local market. (To your interest) until we transfer to Siem Reap Airport for your flight to Luang Prabang.

On arrival at LUANG PRABANG Airport you will be met by our Laos Guide and we transfer to The Luang Say Residence. Luang Prabang where your reservation is for the next 3 Nights and includes Breakfast.

Wonderful Trip to Southeast Asia!

By: smiller

Reviewed on: 29 Jun 2015

We just returned from an amazing 2 week long trip to Southeast Asia to include Thailand and Cambodia. Monika at Sixth Star travel helped with every step of the way--from air fare and schedules to hotels to events. If I had questions or changes, Monika was quick to respond and made sure the trip was as I wanted it. All of the details were covered, and we had a stress free phenomenal vacation that was memorable for everyone! I would highly recommend Monika and sixth star to my friends and family-- I felt like I was in good hands all the way, and knew that if I had an issue, Monika would be there to help!

Unfortunate Experience

By: Jeanne

Reviewed on: 10 Dec 2017

Unfortunately, our guide, while a lovely person, seemed totally out of his depth in Bangkok. His normal territory is Chiang Mai and Chiang Rei. I believe there must have been some issue with the normal Bangkok guide(s) and our guide was sent by the company to Bangkok to stand in for another who was unable to guide our group. The owner should probably have been the stand-in!
