Description

Traditional - Alpine - Cultivated

We tell you stories of the mountains south of Vienna...

A region that is so rich in history like the one of Semmering - Rax - Schneeberg has many stories to tell...

People love stories, and we have the advantage of not being forced to invent some. So let us tell you about the following:

Traditional

The region of Semmering - Rax - Schneeberg mountains is one of the oldest destinations for tourism in Austria. A traditional target for the Viennese during the hot summer months as well as an inspiring retreat for artists, the region has made itself a name across the country. Today still, the regional architecture is marked by this period. Past achievements, like the first mountain railway "World Heritage Semmeringbahn" are a fundamental part of regional identity. People are proud of their history and the "relicts" from the Golden Age.

Alpine

The three "home mountains of the Viennese", with their 2.000 m in altitude, offer a first glance of the alpine landscape for people coming from the East. Countless hiking tours, mountain top experiences, climing places and ski slopes invite you for a "mountainous" adventure - in summer and winter alike.

Cultivated

Culture certainly is a buzzword in the Semmering - Rax - Schneeberg region. The "Golden Age" as a summer resort for artists and patrons continues to have its effects upon the current cultural calendar. Culinary regional delights, like the Latschen schnapps or the typical Heurigen snack, leave no wishes unfulfilled either.

The guides provided in Salzburg and Innsbruck were world class. Highly recommend the Hotel Sacher and all of the tours suggested in both cities, both very memorable and enjoyable.

My husband and I had a jam-packed itinerary on our 37 day European adventure; Panorama Tours & Travel provided exceptional service! Every arrival/transfer (to and from airport and trains) was right on time: friendly drivers went out of their way to acclimate us to our surroundings and help schlep luggage. The private tours and guides were phenomenal: Dr. Christine Horvath conveyed a wealth of knowledge about Vienna, the Wachau Danube Valley, Krems-Durnstein, the Abbey Melk, etc. Mag. Martina Gyuroka was charming on our 1/2 day walking tour in Salzburg. And our favorite guide of all was Lisa, who took us an an all day adventure to Halstatt , thru stunningly beautiful mountain villages in the "Salzkammergut"-Lake District. Lisa greeted us at our hotel the second day wearing a dirndl; such a sweet gesture after we had been chatting earlier about family and local traditions, and also directed me to a shop in Salzburg where I purchased the best-locoing raincoat ever-the "Derbe"!
