At Casa Palopó’s helipad, board your private helicopter to fly to the Petén region via Guatemala City. Along the way, stop in the Mirador archeological complex, known for its abundance of Mayan pyramids, some of which are the largest in the world. Of its 26 known sites, only 14 have been studied; an estimated 30 more await discovery. Upon arrival, you will embark on an hour and a half long hike to the complex where you will explore its ancient mystery with your personal expert guide. Later, board your private helicopter and head to the Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel.

In the evening, a scholar from a local university will visit you and you will learn about the ancient Mayan civilization, with the customs, society, and beliefs of the people's culture. The experience with this scholar will make your visit to Tikal the following day more meaningful.

Day 5
Tikal, Guatemala
Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel Breakfast, Snack

Enjoy a private guided tour of the legendary ruins of Tikal. Listen to howler monkeys, spot toucans and explore the jungle as you discover the superb temples, palaces, and public squares of this ceremonial center with your own personal guide. One of the most famous archeological sites in the world, Tikal contains ancient temples and a wealth of history. Considered the greatest of the surviving classic Mayan cities, Tikal once supported an estimated population of 100,000 people who inhabited it from the 6th century B.C. to the 10th century A.D. Deemed a UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage Site in 1979, now the toucans, parrots and monkeys reign. Archaeologists have identified over 3,000 structures and in its heyday, the city probably covered as much as 25 square miles (65 sq. km). Rising out of dense jungle, the pyramids are some of the most perfect examples of ceremonial architecture in the Mayan world.

In the afternoon, you will return to your lodge, where you will have the option to relax, or venture out onto the lagoon and go kayaking with your guide. Las Lagunas is located on a nature reserve and is also worth exploring on foot, as your guide can take you on the trails into the jungle to reach a sanctuary for local wildlife.

In the evening, we recommend dinner at the lodge.

Day 6
Placencia, Belize
Turtle Inn Breakfast

Depart Las Lagunas and drive to the Belizean border (75 minutes). After going through customs, you will be taken to the airstrip (30 minutes). There, you will leave your luggage in the vans and you will board your private plane with your carry-on items for your flight (40 minutes) to Placencia. The vans will take the luggage to the Turtle Inn.

For your afternoon, you will enjoy the beach at your leisure. The Turtle Inn’s private beach is composed of soft sand and tranquil waves. The property also features several pools for relaxation.

Day 7
Placencia, Belize
Turtle Inn Breakfast, Lunch

Your guide will take you in a private boat to the secluded atolls and cays which make up the Belizean outer banks. Surrounding the islets are the barrier reefs which you will enjoy by snorkeling with your expert guide. If you prefer to go scuba diving, we can make the necessary arrangements at an additional cost. The Belize Barrier Reef is second in the world only to Australia in size. The reef was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and is one of the best places in the Caribbean for underwater exploration.

After the morning spent snokeling or civing, a picnic lunch will be served right on the beach on the islet as you enjoy the Caribbean breezes. Later, you will return to the Turtle Inn where you can enjoy the beach and the property at your leisure.

Day 8
Belize City, Belize
None Breakfast

You will be taken by private transfer to the airport to board your private plane to Belize City. Along the way, you will first fly over the Blue Hole. The Blue Hole is a large 400 foot-deep underwater sinkhole off the coast of Belize. The hole is the opening to what was a dry cave system during the Ice Age. When the ice melted and the sea level rose, the caves were flooded, creating what is now a main attraction. The Blue Hole, as well as the reef itself, is a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. Seeing it from the air is the only way to appreciate the shape and the difference in coloration with the rest of the reef.

Upon arrival at Belize City International Airport, you will be greeted and provided check-in assistance for your flight home.
