Our Commitment
Our Mission Statement: The mission of the Monroe County (Florida Keys) Tourist Development Council is to set an overall direction for the Florida Keys tourism marketing effort in a manner that will assure long-term sustained growth in tourism revenues while also guaranteeing the sustainability and improvement of our product, including both our man-made and natural resources, and improvements to the quality of life of our residents.
The protected waters of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary are home to the only living barrier reef in the continental United States. Whether you live in The Florida Keys, or just reside in a Keys state-of-mind, there’s nothing more important than conserving and preserving the precious resources of the world around us. Through various programs like our Ten Keymandments, Blue Star Operators, green vacation or voluntourism the Florida Keys is committed to sustainable eco-tourism. With much of the area protected by national parks, state parks and marine sanctuaries to ensure visitors can enjoy the islands at their pristine best. The result is a magnificent array of natural experiences on land and sea. Swimming with dolphins, diving or snorkeling to explore the living coral reef, kayaking along tidal creeks and among mangrove forests, cycling along miles of trails and hiking along nature paths to discover tropical flora and fauna are all available when visiting the Keys.
