Gstaad Palace

Perhaps best known as the Bernese Oberland’s winter paradise, Gstaad Palace is a favorite among active travelers and those truly in the know. The palace has presided over Gstaad since 1913, with splendid views of the Swiss Alps. You’ll find 90 rooms and suites, five restaurants (one rated 16 Gault Millau points), two bars with live music, a renowned nightclub, and a full-service spa. A squash court, four outdoor tennis courts, and an Olympic-size outdoor pool are available in summer.

    Sustainability

    Our Commitment

The Gstaad Palace's green initiatives and topics:

    • The Palace picnic place: All started while cleaning the forest, not far from the 100th anniversary of the Gstaad Palace. Back then Hurricane Lothar caused enormous damage to the protective forest on the Oberbort of Gstaad in 1999. And thanks to the support of the Gstaad Palace, and the help of the local schoolchildren who managed to collect the old wood, a picnic area has been built. Today the reforested piece of forest is flourishing there. A sustainable commitment that was officially returned to nature on June 5th , 2019.
    • Food Waste - The Gstaad Palace is also systematically committed to sustainability in other matters. Culinary Director Franz W. Faeh, together with other hotel and restaurant businesses in the region, is part of the Gstaad-Saanenland Procurement Hotelier Association. Every year, the consumption of food is to be optimized through targeted management and a clever purchasing policy, thus reducing food waste.
    • The hotel and four surrounding buildings are heated with renewable energy from local wood. In addition, the whole house is equipped with future-oriented LED lighting technology.
    • And at the Walig Hut - probably the most original suite of the Gstaad Palace at 1'700 meters above sea level - the guests are heated with solar energy and now our Maître d’hôtel is also cooking for our guests with a solar oven.
