A Passages of Distinction Property

The Alvear Palace Hotel is in the most stylish neighborhood of La Recoleta, surrounded by the city’s best restaurants and shops, just minutes away from the financial district. The hotel has French-inspired public areas and 192 elegantly decorated rooms and suites, with Hermes de Paris toiletries and fresh fruits in the room upon your arrival. The restaurants and bars are traditional meeting points in Buenos Aires, with warm ambience and exquisite international cuisine.
Hotel Tip
If you are visiting on a weekend, visit the artisan market, aka the “Hippie Fair,” a few blocks away. There are mimes and acrobats — great for people-watching. –Trish Mercer Columbus, GeorgiaVirtuoso Preferred Supplier Since 06 Mar 2000

Truly a Classic Hotel of a Bygone Era
By: TravelBug

A "bygone era" does not mean this hotel is old fashioned, but presently there are so many trendy hotels that just miss the mark. This is the Real Deal. It is a large hotel but you do not have that sense at all. Service is personalized and exceptional. Our Junior Suite room was spacious and the bathroom comfortable. I loved the T.V. over the bathtub. And Hermès toiletries are always appreciated, wherever you go! And as a Virtuoso client, we enjoyed some very nice perks.
The lobby areas are old worldly elegant but not stuffy. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and the ambiance of the L'Orangerie was perfect. The cold luncheon buffet was also delicious. We did have dinner in the bar one night, but the food did not compare with the lunch or breakfast. Bar food is bar food, for the most part.
The hotel is located in Recoleta which is the nicest part of Buenos Aires, in my opinion. It reminded me a bit of the upper east side in N.Y.: tree lined streets, luxury shops and nice restaurants.

Couldn’t have had a better time at this spectacular hotel! The suite was lovely and staff was attentive and polished. Huge shout out to the concierge staff and Esperanza in particular. When birthday plans fell crashing down she salvaged the evening on the spur of the moment and managed to organize a reservation at a terrific restaurant that made for a truly memorable evening. Hats off for making the effort and for that delish surprise birthday cake!!!

The hotel was very impressive, top quality everything; the only thing I'd change is to not book a suite for only my husband and I, it wasn't necessary really. If we had gone with our young adult daughter, then it would've made complete sense. The price per night is high and if you're exploring the city and not enjoying the hotel to the fullest, it's better to find a lower price room.
