Sustainability
Our Commitment
All Four Seasons properties, including Sydney, are currently undertaking benchmark auditing to determine their actual 'on the ground' sustainability practices and opportunities. This is will allow some solid starting points and the opportunity to make real improvements over the coming years. We have some exciting projects on the books this year for Sydney and we need your help to get them up and running, as well as maintaining the momentum going forward.
Food waste management.
You may be aware that we have recently trialed a food waste management machine on the loading that is capable of processing wet food waste. The by-product is used in sustainable power generation through clean burning methane. It is also highly effective as a fertilser and mulch in food production gardens. Our target this year is to create a new space in the loading dock for a larger machine that will be able to process around 1000kg a day.
Recycling
We are still driving hard recycling and alternatives to single use materials , although it needs constant vigilance and dedicated training. We would like to enhance this endevour by having the Green Team members do some sponataneous auditing at various times throughout the property and occasionally visiting different departments' briefing sessions to promote this special culture.
Community
Recently Clean Up Australia day passed us by. It will be the Green Teams goal to drive participation in similar events and create this buzz within our property through the year.
