Sea Island Cottage

Reviewed on: 10 Jun 2017

Sea Island has something for everybody. We rented a cottage that slept 14 and provided luxurious amenities and ample space for us and all of our grown children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. Skeet shooting, fishing, bingo, riding bikes and golf carts, golf, tennis, swimming, and fine dining were just some of the activities. Our grandchildren loved going on the shrimp boat Lady Jane and seeing the catch as the net was pulled in-- flounder, trout, shrimp, sharks, terrapins, rays, squid, horshoe crabs, etc. The pre-dinner cruise on the Cloister Belle was magical as dolphins escorted our boat as we sipped wine and cruised through the salt marsh estuary. The only negative is the Sea Island activity reservation system. It is error-prone, so you need to check your reservations closely, re-confirm your activities, and make sure the bill correctly reflects your activities.

We had no idea how nice Sea Island was, the Beach Club was absolutely perfect for me, my husband and my 3.5 year old twin girls. The pools, water slide, the playground, the beach, the arcade, the movie theater all amazing - the amenities are fantastic for children. I look forward going back and leveraging the kids camp! Our one bedroom suite was ENORMOUS, it felt more like a condo, with a mini refrigerator, dishwasher & stovetop. Beautiful room. Great service throughout the resort, it was the perfect set up for families.

Beach, Bingo & More

We visited The Cloister to celebrate our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. The hotel provided many things to do for us - since we had 6 kids and 6 adults. Every day we went to the beach. We went surfing - body and boogie boards. We enjoyed all the pools. We swam laps, while kids used the slide. Dads played golf. Moms got to spa. Kids did archery, camp and much more. All of enjoyed the restaurants - especially the "Gold Brick". One night we learned what two ducks were - when you Bingo, you'll find out. Our time flew by and we had tons of fun - still have so much more to do when we return...

Loved the Beach Suite for us and our 2 toddlers. The entire place is super family friendly, food was very good, pool and beach were super fun. And the putting green at The Lodge, a highlight for our boys! We will be back for sure.

I asked for this hotel so it was my choice. iconic, historic building. Service friendly. Beautiful setting. Asked for room with view. Gave me room with view totally blocked by tree. Front desk said they did not know which rooms had views. I think front desk people while friendly were poorly trained. A/C in room not shut off. 62 degrees. Had to move to new room. That room the ceiling leaked. Lost some of our laundry. Moved destination of events with no notice except sign in lobby. Times of events changed with no notice. Asked for feedback on topic, told to check back with person at front desk before 6:00, at 5:00 they had left with no message. Service at Colt restaurant was glacially slow. Golf course (Seaside) had no tees on range. Not expect this as hotel is expensive.
