Hotel Santa Caterina

A secret among celebrities and discerning travelers, Hotel Santa Caterina is a superb seaside hideaway set amidst an expansive estate inhabited by vibrant bougainvillea and fragrant lemon and orange groves. You'll do well to choose one of the lavish suites, each with a sea-view bathroom and thoughtfully chosen antiques — the enchanting “Romeo and Juliet” suite is a two-story chalet set on a cliff above the sea. Outside, two elevators are available to whisk you to the swimming pool, bathing platform and spa. Don't miss Restaurant Santa Caterina for romantic, open-air dining.

Hotel Tip

Combine Santa Caterina in Amalfi with the Tiberio in Capri by taking a private boat between the two and making a day of it. –Julie Danziger New York, New York

Beautiful hotel located atop the ocean cliff. My favorite time at the hotel was lounging at the pool oceanside. Take the elevator down a few floors and the hotel has a private space right next to the ocean. The food was great. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from downtown Amalfi. The road down is narrow so you have to be conscious of traffic, but it is a scenic walk which I did multiple times. Some might want to be closer to the action, but I liked being a short walk away to avoid the tourist congestion and traffic at peak hours. Great service; they booked tickets for me for a show I heard about the first night there. My room had a balcony over the ocean, a great place to greet each morning.

Hotel Santa Caterina is- in one word- incredible! The location, decor, view from all rooms, and the service were all more than we could have ever hoped for! During our next trip to Italy, we plan to spend our entire stay at Hotel Santa Caterina. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Once we were walking back to the hotel and the hotel's shuttle recognized us, stopped, and offered us a ride back to the hotel! Our entire stay was relaxing from the moment we arrived to find fresh fruit and homemade Italian cookies waiting for us in our room. We loved every minute by the pool and sea! We also enjoyed both restaurants, which provided the perfect introduction to Italian culinary specialties.

This hotel was very nice, elegant and in a great location. We were able to utilize their dock to take water taxis to Positano and other locations. They have an elevator from the dock all the way to the lobby and made it so easy to get off a boat and arrive in the lobby with your luggage. The staff were very efficient and responsive. The setting and views are so elegant and right on the water is what I wanted. The breakfast and all the food we had was very good, many items were excellent. Our terrace on the waterfront was open, smelled wonderful with floral vine dividers for privacy. Incredible views. Their customer service was some of the best I have ever had. Two specifics, Gennaro made sure that wherever we went, he called ahead and told them we were the hotel's special guests (we were regular travelers I assure you) and to make sure we had the best experience possible. Our shopping for ceramics, pizza and limoncello lessons were fabulous!! He was wonderful.

Stunning views, lovely rooms and over the top service. Our 6 year old was treated well and loved the pool and food. Can’t wait to return.
