Lovely Hotel that is Service Oriented

By: Jim and Janice

Reviewed on: 06 Aug 2014

Used this hotel for a Nationals game with clients and it was perfect. Everyone loved it and we could walk back to the hotel from the game which is a huge advantage. I had been in DC the week before and stayed in an famous expensive hotel which did not touch the Mandarin for quality and service. We arrived too late for lunch and the staff graciously served us lunch even though they were technically closed. That does not happen often and speaks to a customer oriented hotel where personal service is outstanding. Meals were also very good and in beautiful settings.

The hotel is lovely with very good service. My only criticism is they need a policy to have parents control their small children in the public areas and specifically the club room on the 8th floor. There is not excuse for those disruptions particularly when you are paying for the amenity of the club room.

Great value

I thought this property offered a great value for D.C. I would say it is not the nicest Mandarin property out there and is probably not really comparable to the true 5 star properties in the city like the Four Seasons and Ritz. However - they price accordingly so it's hard to complain about the little things. Overall the hotel was well renovated and had good service. We appreciated the Fan Club benefits and our main advice would be to skip the club level upgrade because the Fan Club benefits are then basically duplicative.

Mandarin Oriental

The Mandarin Oriental is excellent! The room were terrific - extremely clean, great beds and linens and felt spacious and light. The food was great too - we ate breakfast there each morning. The gym is also easily accessible! The location of the Mandarin is superb. It’s right next to the new wharf district (3 blocks max), which had so many fun restaurants! And then it’s also minutes away from the Jefferson memorial and washington monument! You could walk everywhere from here or easily hop on the metro. If we go back, we would stay there again. The staff are also incredible. So kind and well-informed!
