This hotel's common areas and pool are like stepping back into the time of British rule. The elevator cage is charming. The staff goes out of it's way to know your name and attend to your needs. The rooms however, need to be updated. I appreciate that the intent is to keep the feel of the original era, but the rooms and bathrooms are lacking! What this hotel has to offer is it's reputation and list of stars and dignitaries who have stayed there and it's central location. But with several upscale hotels now available to choose from I am not sure that this would be our first choice if returning. We had the pleasure of having massages in the spa and I have nothing but compliments for the ambience of the area where you check in and the massages were excellent! However, the facilities are in dire need of refurbishing. The showers look no better than a public pool dressing room. The locker area and amenities very spartan at best. Sad

When we arrived to the hotel there was a pungent smell similar than lemongrass. Soon we had a headacke. We found out that there were fumigating the whole hote and we were one of the few guests. We could not sleep. Next morning we changed hotel.

    Terrific hotel, amazing staff!

Spectacular. Lovely hotel. Great service. Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere. Rooms at the front can be a little noisy at night. Rooms at the back are quieter.
