    Sustainability

    Our Commitment

    Our electricity supply is responsibly purchased and in the last four years the electricity supplied to The Merrion Hotel was 100% renewable energy.We have moved to paperless meetings and our accounts operate a new online system, reducing our paper use by 60%.

    In the last 5 years we have gone through a full refit of bulbs/lighting systems.

    We are now at 96% A+B rated lighting throughout the hotel.

    Membership of the Clean the World programme repurposes toiletries from our bedrooms. We are also working with suppliers to eradicate single use plastic in our bedrooms.

    Our lost property, if not claimed, is donated to the NCBI, National Council for the Blind in Ireland, and our old furniture is donated to the Jack and Jill charity.

    The full boiler plant has been replaced in the last 5 years, and energy efficient condensation boilers installed. A combined heat and power plant (CHP) has been installed.

    All water is heated by gas fired boilers. A Building Management System (BMS) is in place which controls and regulates heating in separate zoned areas.

    Guests are afforded the opportunity to indicate laundry preferences by utilizing the turn-wheel provided in their room. All in-house laundry is done at 30°.
